Okay, so here’s an interesting finding. I decided to go through and Plex Dance the individual series that are being misidentified and categorised as ‘McMafia’. So after optimising the DB, I moved all of the series out of the folder, ran a scan, emptied trash, cleaned bundles, optimised the DB, ran another scan, emptied the trash again, cleaned bundles, optimised the DB once more, and then moved one series (‘Winterwatch’) which has 3 seasons each of 3-4 shows, back under the TV shows folder.
Plex picked up the change and automatically started a new scan. Winterwatch appeared in the set of TV shows. Yay! Except that somewhere between that point (where it had identified Winterwatch as a separate show) and when it did the TVDB query to get the artwork and description metadata, the same thing went wrong, and it disappeared, moving back as a season under McMafia. When the shows moved, I could see the status ‘toast’ appearing saying ‘Deleted an Item’:
Then after that it started processing metadata for McMafia season 54 etc:
So I don’t think this is anything to do with load, or corruption or anything else like that. It looks like Plex is correctly picking up the show folder and seasons, but when it scans the metadata, it gets it wrong.
How can we debug exactly what caused this to happen?
