Music - Artist Missing After Merge - Tried almost everything to fix!

I had an artist in my Library that was separated into 2 Artists (Aaron MacDonald & Aaron MacDonald Band) and I wanted to merge both of these under 1 name. When I selected both artists and merged, however, they both completely disappeared from my Library. The Artist, Albums and Tracks are no longer appearing in my Plex Library (I can see them if I sort by Folders) and I have tried the following in order to get them back:

  1. Refresh All Metadata - issue remains
  2. Checked “Various Artists” folder - nothing there - issue remains
  3. Searched for the Artist, Albums, and individual tracks - nothing appears in search - issue remains.
  4. Delete Bundles - issue remains
  5. The “Plex Dance” - issue remains
  6. MP3 Tag - Updated Tags - issue remains
  7. MusicBrainz Picard - Ran this - issue remains
  8. Removed all Music from Library, logged out (both app and web), logged back in and added library fresh - issue remains
  9. Renamed the folders and tracks I am having trouble with - issue remains.
  10. Changed Agent Settings to “Local Media Assets” first for both Artists and Albums - issue remains
  11. Changed Agent to “Personal Media Artists” in Plex Manage - Libraries Advanced settings
  12. Enabled “Prefer Local Metadata” in Plex Manage - Libraries Advanced Settings

I’m completely at a loss, as absolutely nothing appears to work. I would appreciate any help.

Not sure what happened, but the Artist came back. I logged out and logged back in, and now I can no longer claim my server… on to the next post, I guess.

I am in the exact same boat with one song that I just added. I have completed all the same steps as you, and nothing. I have even added the folder containing that album directly to the library and Plex won’t see it.

Are you able to have a look at this and see if this fixes your issues? Be sure to read the full thread as it does contain info about the install process. I have been using this perfectly without any issues now. Just note the TPK provided on the forum is outdated so do not be surprised when Plex asks you to upgrade straight away!
