Music library by folder = VERY confusing song order

When I view my Music library by folder and viewing D:\music\Rock the order of the songs is very puzzling. I don’t see any way to indicate just WHAT order I’d like! It appears to be by song title BUT its major sort is arranged into about two dozen groups by some unknown criteria. It’s like A-Z,A-Z,A-Z,etc. Not by track number, not genre, nor anything else I can see. Admittedly, this is probably the worst music player software I have ever seen, but what could possibly be the sort order here?
