This music library was updated with the new scanner that came out recently…I’m not sure if that had an impact or not.
Before I roll back the server, is it a known issue that the lyrics are no longer working with this version of Plex?
The reason I ask is that I have gone through all of the posted suggestions to fix it, such as refreshing the individual metadata, doing a full refresh all metadata on the whole library and even waiting for 24 hours for it to complete.
I upgraded the Plex server to version 1.20.2.3402 (which came out today) and now the lyrics are showing as expected (and without doing any library refreshes).

On a side note, the automatic lyrics don’t line up / highlight correctly until the end of a line of lyrics, not at the beginning/as the singing occurs. This happened previously when lyrics were working so it would be a separate issue to this one.
Yeah, lyrics timing has always been pretty imprecise. It seems to be better with locally-stored timed lyrics, so I suspect there’s network lag at play.
When you refer to locally stored, do you mean the associated file or the embedded lyric metadata?
For example, using MusicBrainz Picard they can store the lyrics in the metadata but Plex did not seem to pick those up even when I enabled the local media agent (granted, I have only done a local refresh on the album, not a global music library refresh).
Putting in a txt file with lyrics does work by a simple album refresh.
