Just wondering if this is just me or if there are other people who have been having this problem recently. I have a decently sized music collection (180 GB) which has been working well with Plex for quite some time now. However, recently after re-adding the directory to a library in Plex, the metadata seems to always be downloading and refreshing even on music that it has already processed. It is downloading metadata for days.
I even tested this on a new Plex server with the same data and the same thing is happening. I’ve found out that the metadata only re downloads after a library scan is triggered. If the automatic library scan is disabled, the metadata does not re-download. Any idea what this could be? I’m running Plex in Docker. I’d be open to post the logs if it’s something that’s just happening to me.
I’m also seeing this. My music collection isn’t as large (70GB), but I see it constantly processing metadata. I’ve got pi-hole installed and I’m seeing about 170,000 dns hits for lastfm every day from the plex server. It’s been doing this for weeks. I’m not seeing any errors in the logs and I’m cycling through all 6 lastfm logs every 30-45mins with debug turned on…

I am also seeing this problem. I do not have the latest update to PMS though so I will have to test this. My old win10 server PC cannot handle that kind of CPU load constantly! Will have to report back after.
