Playstation 4 app will not play any .MP3 audio files but Sony’s own Media Player plays every .MP3 audio file i throw at it. Transcoder is turned off(with the transcoder on it works but i rather not transcode media that direct plays fine on the system when using Playstation Media Player).
Hi FlashMedia. MP3 isn’t supported in the playback platform (provided by Sony) which supports Plex. The PlayStation Media Player and the Plex app can’t share the same playback platform. The playback platform we must use only supports MP4 audio requiring us to transcode all other music formats.
Is this something that could change in the future? Reason I ask is because I don’t want to reencode my entire music library then you update with mp3 support.
It’s not something Plex can change. Sony hasn’t committed to adding MP3 support to the platform we’re built upon.
Ok. I’ll wait it out a bit more, hopefully Sony will come around. Appreciate the reply.
