Sorry. Lost track of this thread. If you are still having issues, please provide recent logs from the app and PMS after recreating the problem. There have been many changes recently so it will be easiest to look for problems with updated logs.
Edit - To be clear, I also do use the app for listening to music and I have not seen the symptoms you’ve reported. All my songs play normal.
@MovieFan.Plex Alright, here you go. Updated logs from today, where I encountered the bug while at the gym again. Things seemed to be going well for most of the hour, but then it did happen again. Only way around it was to hit next, and then back to actually listen to the full song again.
I’m seeing all sorts of errors in your logs so it’s hard pin pointing when the problem occurred. About what time did it happen and do you recall what song it was?
Here are my logs as well. I had the issue occur at 07:20 CST 11/16/2016. I had to open the app, go back a song, then go forward a song before it would continue.
I had the issue again on my drive home 3 times:
1625, 1637, and 1639 CST 11/16/2016.
The third time, I didn’t bother trying to get it to start again. However, when I shut off the car and the phone disconnected from bluetooth, it started playing in my pocket randomly. Seems the bug has it’s own bugs to go with it: awesome.
I’ve attached updated logs that reflect these three occurrences. Have you been able to discern anything from the previously posted logs?
I had this issue again on my drive to work 2 times:
0724 and 0729 CST 11/17/2016
Of course, this was after I spent literally 5 minutes in my driveway trying to get the thing to start playing anything at all (I purposely disconnected from wifi so weak signal wouldn’t be the issue). I had to skip around to several different albums to get Plex to start playing.
I’ve attached updated logs that reflect these two occurrences. Have you been able to discern anything from the previously posted logs @MovieFan.Plex ?
I had this issue again on the way home from work:
1632 CST 11/17/2016
Again, I had to spend 5 minutes starting, stopping, disconnecting, and reconnecting bluetooth to get things going at all. However, after the issue occurred at 1632, I could not get the music to start again; no matter how much skipping forward/back I did.
This issue needs to be escalated. It has been open for well over two months now with no movement. I am available to contact by phone if necessary. At this point I have been unable to use Plex to play my music for two months; this is no good for a $150 product. I’ll look to hear back from you by 0800 CST 11/18. I will escalate through the proper channels as necessary.
Reviewing your latest Android logs, I do see something around 16:34, where the app reports that it lost it’s connection to your PMS. It then reconnects but can’t create a secured connection so it tries to get the next song but without a secured connection, it doesn’t work. I can see you trying to go froward and back but it still didn’t have a secured connection so skipping around doesn’t help. It stays in this unsecured connection state until the end of your log.
Your server also reports this connection loss and the attempts to connect with an unsecured connection. I’ll pass your log along to the devs to see if they can determine why the app lost it’s secure connection. I did see one quick message before this happened and it was related to DayDream. Can you turn off this feature on the phone and see if that helps?
I also see a bunch of other errors in the Android log. They don’t appear to affect the playback but is something I would like to look at. Do you have the library you were listening to set to track the position? The error looks like a problem relaying this info back to PMS. If you don’t mind, can you turn this off in the library settings and try playing a few songs and provide a new Android log. I would like to see if this other error goes away. Just for this, I’m not concerned with the disconnection issue so you don’t need to recreate that issue.
I’m going to review your other logs you posted and see if they have a similar disconnect/unsecured connection issue.
Edit - I’m seeing the same Daydream message followed by the disconnect then an unsecured connection on 11/17 at 7:26, 11/16 at 16:39, and 11/16 at 7:23. These are all times you reported issues so this is definitely the indicator. Now to figure out why.
hey @MovieFan.Plex Sorry for the late reply in regards to my logs
I look a look through, and I don’t really see where it went wrong on mine either, I’ll try and get another set of logs today.
I did do a quick search in there, and I don’t see anything to do with daydream at all though.
I will ask the obvious question though. Why do you need any sort of connection at all, to play local content on your phone? What if I was in airplane mode? Isn’t the whole point of sync to have it not need access to the server at all? I don’t want plex doing anything over my precious, overly expensive limited data plan while I’m jogging on a treadmill.

Sorry. Too many people involved in this thread. My last comment was for @lanerussell.
For you, if you can recreate the problem and let me know what time or what song you were playing. I couldn’t tell from your earlier log where the problem was.
OK @MovieFan.Plex I got some new logs and I made a note while I was listening this time when the issue occurred. Happened twice while I was listening to my phone in the car.
First time was while playing ‘TWRP - Makin’ a Move’, and it stopped playing around 17:21
Second time was while playing ‘TWRP - Business Tips’, and it stopped playing around 17:34
@M-Cubed I looked over your logs and I can see where the playback ran into trouble, but there is nothing indicating why it stopped. At first I thought maybe the file was bad but I see that it played a second time and played all the way through so that wasn’t it. This is going to be tough to track down the problem. I’ll give the devs all the details you have provided and I’ll see if they can reproduce the problem, but unless they can, I don’t know if we’ll be able to fix the problem for you.
@MovieFan.Plex Thanks letting me know. It does seem to be a very strange problem, and I’m also hoping a nexus 6p update might help.
I had a hunch that it might have something to do with bluetooth, so this morning I tried just playing the same songs right from my phone speaker, but it still stopped partway through.
Unfortunately if this doesn’t get fixed I’ll have to go back to using a Subsonic server for my music collection.
I’ll throw my logs at this issue as well. No bluetooth connection at this time but it has happened over bluetooth. Currently the issue only happens when using synced media and not streaming media. Doesn’t seem to be about a bad file as the same file will play fine on the next pass.
This happens about 4-5 times a day on the low end. So if you need some more logs let me know and I’ll get them
I’m experiencing similar, although I’ve only observed the behavior while streaming. I’m using a Moto turbo which is running Android 5.1 (stock, not rooted). I keep my Plex server updated. I had figured the problem was related to brief LTE drops and the app just not dealing with that well. No problems with Amazon or Google music streaming though. When I’m on my local network I only occasionally observe this behavior but not near as frequent.
I’m experiencing this issue as well. Streaming via WiFi or during local playback. Got really frustrating today, happened about every third song, even when I was playing synced media.
Also tried casting to a tablet and a couple headless OpenPHT clients (Pi2 and Pi3 based). That seems to have failed for other reasons (poor WiFi signal).
Nexus 5X/7.0. Logs from the phone attached. Server log is mighty large, I can email it if needed.
I can confirm this issue as well. For my playback stopping issues the commonalities are:
Music Playback Stops with local synced media (But also streaming from PMS)
This occurs via Bluetooth and via local outputs (Headphones and my devices speakers)
Occasionally playback will resume after 5-10 minutes, and sometimes it will not.
This occurs on Android devices only from what I have seen - I have both a Nexus 6P and a Pixel XL - both running Android 7.x This does not occur on my Apple iOS devices.
