Nexus 6P, Android 7.1.2, whatever version of Plex Android has updated to most recently and in the same boat. The only variable I haven’t been able to try without is Bluetooth but whether I’m streaming on mobile data or WiFi, synced or not, the issues of a stop of the music at some random interval persists.
I’m having this issue as well. It has happened on multiple phones (all on Android 7 and 7.1). I’m doing this with a synced playlist of music. It will sometimes happen every song for several songs in a row, other times last hours.
When it occurs, hitting play/pause does nothing but change that button’s state, the music does not resume. Hitting back or forward to the next track restarts music consistently.
The steps I took:
Uninstalled and re-installed Plex
Sign in
Sync a music playlist from my server
Wait
Once music has been downloaded, switch to view local device

I’m new to plex and only bought the monthly pass. Glad because my primary use case is syncing and playing content to mobile devices for listing while away. This bug makes that wayyy to annoying to continue to use.
I suspect that this has something to do with other notifications on the phone. I’ve noticed that music will stop at approximately the same time I receive a notification, but only some of the time.
@gatewarstrek most of the people here have indicated that it is directly related to when the phone goes into doze mode. If you have the phone you plugged in it wont doze and it will continue to play. You might have a different issue. Suggest you start a new thread and post your logs so the Devs can look to see how they are related.
What I find strange, is that other audio applications don’t have the problem with doze, it’s only the Plex app (Strange that it hasn’t been fixed yet).
Just adding my 2 cents as well…Also happening for me…seems to be getting worse now. Going to try to remove all Plex /Plex files from my phone and re-sync

Windows 10 client, the Chrome web app and the chrome web client. I am
currently streaming out of my google drive.
Just updated to version 5.9.2.805 and still stopped play back "meddle - > near end of song.
Need to Manual push next song, for music to continue.
Like always reboot phone, to be sure app update is installed correctly.

I tested on 5.9.2.805 and it’s still broken. Christian, make sure your not charging, doze doesn’t kick in if the phone is charging
I concur. I have been testing it for a bit and just experienced a freeze again. I would have been surprised if it was fixed today because it was not mentioned in the changelogs. Also, the issue has been around for over 7 months, I can’t imagine it is actually being worked on.
Just did a complete removal of all Plex with install from Play store and re sync. I also changed the doze setting for Plex too …did not make a difference. Pretty much anytime I get an alert (Facebook/email/calendar etc…) the song stops playing and I can not restart…can only skip forward.
Anyone know how we can promote this thread? Don’t know much about how forums work but this needs some more visibility from Plex.
