Sorry, I don’t have an update. If you are in the Beta program, any fix will show up there first.
Am I the only one unable to receive beta updates?
This link says I am part of the beta program (https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.plexapp.android)
but I am waiting for over a week for the update to appear. Google Pixel.
Since I moved from my Nexus 5 to the Pixel, the issue appears every 2-3 songs,
cant listen to music anymore without constantly turning on the display…
It seems to be the case - sometime less is more, get the core features fixed and stable before venturing into other areas but ensuring you have the resources to support your core functions at all times. I run my own business and if left my paying customers with little information and a broken service for this length of time I pretty sure I would be out of business or at the very least, left with some very angry clients! lol
This morning’s album stop after 2nd track, a freeze mid way through track 6 and a stop after track 9.
I am also having issue with artwork on synced content - a bit hi tor miss if either the artist or album covers will show, they all show fine when viewed directly off the NAS but sync it to the phone and it might show, might not. Again, raised this with plex and got we will look into it - 3 months later still hit or miss.

Beta 5.11.0 was recently released which should address the music player stopping randomly. Please give it a shot and let us know.
@labashosky2010 and @watzko - I confirmed that you two are in the beta program. If you have multiple gmail accounts on your device, please make sure you are downloading the app using the correct account. You can also try to push the update from Google Play from a web browser.
@“MovieFan.Plex” attached are the logs. when it stopped playing, i tried to get it to play again by toggling the the play/pause button a few times but that didn’t work. By the time I got over the area to send the logs, the player started playing again.

Thanks. Received the update to version 5.11.0.455 (6c8ed1eb). But it doesn’t get through a single song without sudden stop (tried three times while driving to work).
Could the confusion about “I am not in the beta” be caused because its not flagged as one through the Android Dev Console? For example the beta of WhatsApp (also of another app) is marked as such while viewing it in the playstore. It is also listed on the beta apps tab on the playstore , while Plex’s’ isn’t.
Also can confirm the latest has the issue with cover and artist information artwork for synced content still! Also noticed it happening with the movies too…film artwork is randomly missing on synced content.
Phone runs android 7 and tablet is one 6 both with update Plex apps, effecting both.
Any update on this? It’s been a week since we saw a Beta that was supposed to (but did not) fix the issue, and since then we’ve seen a major version release, which still hasn’t fixed it.
Is the issue reproducible by the developers? Is a developer assigned to resolving the issue? Is there even a single person at Plex for whom this issue falls into the “important and urgent” quadrant of their Eisenhower matrix?
Can we please get an update to this? This isn’t meant to be a threat, but Plex just isn’t working at all for a music player and I am going to have to start looking into a different solution soon.
Ok guys, just to be clear. There are 2 separate issues going on. 1 - when the screen is off on Android 7, playback of music (synced or not), would stop and you need to turn the screen on and hit play again to resume. This is an issue we saw only on Android 7 devices and this should have been fixed. 2 - synced music just randomly fails and can’t be resumed. rwd/skip or changing songs sometimes will fix it but not always. We are still looking into this issue.
