Using the most recent music scanner, I’ve noticed that for multiple artists there is an “undefined” album cover art showing up over and over. Thing is if you edit that album the correct cover art is frequently available.
This is the album art that shows up over and over. Most artists don’t have any but I’ve found a dozen so far that do.
The real cover art is located but not used.
If PLEX thinks this album art is right, then it would think whoever the artist is for this art is the owner of this album and group all these under one name. But it doesn’t. The metadata is correct for the actual album. And in most cases the correct album art is in there, just not used. If it pulls NO art at all it uses the artist photo as normal, but some times it only pulls this wrong art and uses it instead. Makes no sense.
this was an issue awhile back with something in plex metadata provider, i believe.
afaik it should have been fixed for quite a while now.
if you refresh the artist/album, does the art get corrected?
if so, you may have to refresh the entire music library (which can take a long long time, to both finish and for the images to fix themselves).
if refresh doesn’t fix it, and you gave it sufficient time, then not sure if there is a ‘supported’ way to clear them, an unsupported way is to find the image guid and clear them from the applicable plex library database entries (I don’t have any db instructions).
So far I’ve only found it in artists that start with A. LOL
I’m browsing my album and I’m almost through the B’s and I haven’t seen any more. But with 28,000 albums, it might take some time to be sure.
