Preface, I have a large music library. About a half a million files. But scanning it would take 20-30 minutes tops. Yesterday it started taking all night. When watching the scanner you would see entire albums go by but now I’m seeing song tracks go by. It has been running for 10 hours and isn’t finished. It says it si 25% done. Any ideas?
Nothing seems different on my Linux server.
Have you checked for other processes taking up CPU or disk i/o?
all that seems normal. PLEX is the only thing that runs on that box. Just seems odd.
May have figured it out. There was a recent addition that was causing the scanner to hang and slow down. Replaced that album, emptied trash, cleaned bundles, optimized the database and tried again and it is running MUCH faster now. Alerts is showing albums going by again instead of tracks.
Interesting, I have seen bad files confuse Sonic Analysis before, but not the scanner. Glad you figured it out.
