Hello. I have 1.9.2.4285 version my on qnap nas and since the last version I have an issue with the audio files tags. For example, if an album is matched wrong and I unmatch it, the file names stay the same, even after refreshing the metadata.
If I change the title of a song and do NOT lock the field, the name stays blank even if I match the album si refresh the metadata (I would expect to take the name from the song file). Is anyone else having this issue or idea how to fix it? I spend time making sure that the data inside the songs are correct, and I do not want to do the same on Plex (applying individual names to songs). Thanks.
When I said ‘change the title’, I meant to delete the title. So whatever I put in there, and either lock or unlock it, nothing will chance on ‘match’, ‘unmatch’ or ‘refresh’.

I am sure, performing the Plex Dance will correct the issue.
(actually, with music you can even omit step 4 of the dance)
But you should take steps to prevent that this happens in the first place.
Instruct Plex to give your embedded metadata priority by doing this:
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - last.fm
grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ and make sure it is in the topmost position
repeat the same under
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - Plex Premium Music
Then ‘edit’ your music library,
go to the ‘Advanced’ tab
and tick the checkbox ‘Use embedded meta tags’
I have done all that before and absolutely nothing changes.
My friend with another Qnap nas and the latest PMS has exactly the same behaviour. I have the same experience on my qnap and windows machines.
If I change a title of a song on Plex, and either lock or not lock the field, it will not change on any ‘match’, ‘unmatch’ or ‘refresh’. That makes the ‘lock’ button absolutely pointless as the artist and title of the song does not change at all. Try it for yourself and you will see that you have the same bug.
I think the idea is if you fix the metadata in the item you don’t have to fix it in the editor - that may, as you have indicated, be broke.

There’s ‘Music Manipulation For Fun and Profit’, that may, along with all but one of Otto’s Suggestions above (one was a Plex Pass Post - for a big Oops) may lead to a compromised resolution - at least temporarily as well as totally effectively.
It takes about as long to fix the metadata in the item in a few minutes as it does to spend hours trying to get it fixed in the editor. Wait… that don’t sound right.
Yes, I didn’t express myself clear enough:
Don’t try to fight the Plex metadata editor. The proper solution is to fix your files’ embedded metadata anyway. Then they work just about anywhere, not just in Plex.
I am not that silly… I go through each music album and add / change / fix the metadata myself. Every single album has all the data inside the .m4a + .cover image in the folder. As I already said, if I decide to change the title of any song, it does not change back at all, making the LOCK BUTTON pointless.
As I suggested above, have you tried yourself to change the title of a song? I have this issue on my qnap and windows machines, and another friend with another qnap has the same issue (he did not spot it before I told him). I will attach later on a screenshot with all the metadata of my files, but that is not the issue.
The issue, I repeat, is if you change the title on a song ONCE, Plex will stop doing any ‘adjustments’ to it whether it is LOCKED or NOT locked.

I remember a few weeks ago that I changed the name of some songs to test how Plex works (I am pretty new around) and I remember than on ‘refresh’ the UNlocked random name was being changed to the proper name from the ‘match’. Exactly what I was expecting. But I few days ago I noticed that if you change it ones, it stays like that forever.
Another issue - it assigned this artist to Thailand, but they are not from Thailand and I cannot see any way of changing the country. So when I search music by country, they will not show up for the right one! Silly.
Very ‘Plex Premium’ indeed! Any suggestions, please?
