Long time user first time poster. I’ve been using plex for what feels like a decade now. One of the first lifetime subscribers know Ming this is a platform I wanted to continue to use and prefer it over the competition. I’ve cut cable cords the same time I’ve switched to Plex and replaced every cable box with a Roku because it was agnostic in the religion wars. It feels like Roku is in the process of raising their own Koreshian compound just when Plex is trying out their universal search which is what I see the new Google TV to become to replace Roku in the appliance driven smart tv. If plex is going to survive the storm in what looks like the battlefield they are trying to play in, I think they need to do the following.

Make the discover function work for home profiles. No one wants to see suggestions based on the primary account holder. I know it is beta, but that is a must to compete with the new Google TV.[duplicate → see below] - Now that new focus has been added back to HTPC, make a platform that can launch Netflix, Hulu, and all the 3rd party apps on a HTPC so we can finally get rid of the Rokus, Chromecasts, Apple TV’s and run solely Plex as our one shop stop for an interface. Kodi is already beating you in this.

If possible make yourself a flavor of Linux OS that anyone can install on an old PC to replace their media appliances. I know I’ve got quite a few decent mini pcs waiting to be turned into a plex media player as opposed to a Kodi box with a Plex addon.[duplicate → see below]
I’ve always been and always will be a plex user, but I would like to go pure plex instead of adding the channel to my new chromecast running Google TV.
