Since automatic update of the above version, strange behaviour is shown on the TV (Sony XF90 series). At first, noticed that the system time was set back to 4.45 middle of the night. Then, my libraries were not found anymore by the Plex app. I couldn’t get it back until after a hard reboot and fixing the time of the TV. All other devices showed no problem using Plex.
After viewing Plex for an episode or two, I wanted to change sources on the TV (my son wanted to use the PS4). After changing from Plex to HDMI it presented as a black screen but we could hear the PS4 sounds and receiver also signalled a correct connection to TV. OSD also worked, it just didn’t show the video data from the receiver. Time was again set to 4:45 am and all libraries were not found anymore either. After turning off the TV, it took some time to get it started again. I then fixed the time again and restarted Plex. Lo and behold, there were my libraries again.
Could it be that the new Plex app is making my TV set unstable in some way, thus presenting with a lot of strange symptoms?
I’m going to try sideloading the previous 8.5.2 tonight and disable auto update.
Anyone with an idea?
Correct, I don’t think that is what happened. I wouldn’t know how the app could change system time either. I rather think that after resources start flooding the internal memory or something, the TV enters an unresponsive or less ideal state at which the system time gets garbled.
The Sony Android TV needs cable connected for time to be set, weirdly enough, you cannot get the time from internet or network or set manually. That’s annoying.
After sideloading 8.5.2 I have not experienced any weird problems so far. If it runs stable for a week or so, I am going to give 8.6 another go.
When did 8.6 get released? Only today did I see a GUI change where the play, more and settings buttons etc had been moved above the movie poster, until last night they were below. They have changed size too, I like the redesign but I am just curious why my Sony Bravia didn’t pick it up earlier.
