I am new to this, I am a music lover through and through, my problems is trying to keep my file up to date. I finally got a 5tb portable hard drive. Some files are saved the way I want, some not, some I am noticing were deleted completely when my husband tried to help me. And they are just gone. I do a lot of downloading and had been saving here and there to various backup methods. portable hard drive, cd’s, flash drives, hard drive, plug in hard drive…You get the idea. So I got a 5tb portable backup drive. So I have downloaded everything onto 1 drive of the 5 tb there is .5 of a tb left for room. This includes mostly pictures, videos and music. Music is about 3.5 tb… Something like 500,000 files. With Plex I have been trying to store my music online so that it is accessible where ever I want with speed and no limits. My problem is I have had it running 24/7 for 19 days and I can’t tell if it is done, how far it is, or if it is working at all. My screen has an arrow pointing upwards and it keeps turning, when it stops there is no pop up screen, there is no indication that it did anything, every album I try to play there is always an error like file not found, or some other issue, the images are wrong for the album cover etc. So I try update libraries, completely knowing there is nothing new added but yet there it goes again to the races spinning away for whatever reason.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m not a computer guru, just an old lady who has an extensive cd collection and download collection. My cd’s are not in electronic format due to the time, I just play them when I want to or create a mixed file of my favorites. If I can’t deal with my electronic stuff, what do I do with another 2,000 cd’s waiting to be converted? Free downloads aren’t as easy as they use to be.
I don’t know my speeds for download or upload, but with unlimited I wasn’t concerned on how long it takes. What my issue is I don’t even know if this is working? or How far is it from being completed? or What can I do to speed it up? or Am I having these problems because of the free version?
I followed the instructions at the beginning telling me where to find my files. I selected my hard drive and my portable hard drive. It shows up as 2 different libraries, I think. I don’t have a list of what’s stored where. Some songs work, but it seems more albums don’t work than that do work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don’t know anyone with a collection the size of mine to ask for help.
