Plex taking forever to update libraries

Hi everyone!

Plex has always performed really great until now. For some reason, Plex is taking forever to update the media libraries. I’ve tried adjusting permissions. Doing a scandisk at startup. Nothing is really working.

I am using the latest Plex server software with Windows 10.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Where are the media files stored?

  • Locally in the server?
  • externally on USB-connected hard drives?
  • on file servers/NAS in the local network? (wired or wireless?)
  • worse (‘cloud’-storage)

Do you use proper file naming conventions for Plex?

Are you storing each movie in its own, individual sub-folder?

What is the biggest number of files within a folder in your storage?

Do you only have videos or do you also have music or photos in Plex?

Type of drive for the system drive of Windows? (HDD or SSD)

How much RAM?
