My local Plex will not connect after restart/power outage

Lately when my computer crashes due to power outage (which is a lot in FL in the summer), Plex will not connect to my server/library. The other friends who have libraries/servers that I connect to are working fine, but my local server (on my home PC that I run Plex Web Player on) will not connect. And thus my tablet/phone/laptop can’t connect to my media. This only started about 6 weeks ago. Before then, the computer would restart with no impact to Plex. Today when it happened, it randomly reconnected after a few hours.

Fixes that are not working:

  • Logging in/out
  • Restarting (that is causing the problem)
  • Updates: installing latest version sometimes fixes it, sometimes not. If I install an older version (3 versions back) it sometimes works, sometimes not.

Message: LONG\WOLF Media Server is currently unavailable, Verify you have a network connection and that the server is online, or see our troubleshooting tips for further assistance.
Server Version#: 1.40.4.8679 (I’ve installed various recent versions, some newer than this, problem persists)
Player Version#: 4.135.1
OS: Win 10 Pro

The crash may have changed your IP if you are using DHCP. Your local shortcut (if any) or the address you are typing may be outdated

Try:
In CMD prompt: Type IPCONFIG and get the current server IP.
]In a browser address line type: [Local IP}/web/index.html#!/

If this works your server is up, if not you may need to log out and back in to the server (not your workstation)

Thanks, will hit up that when I get the power back on (currently in Tropical Storm Debby)

Most likely your server’s database file is damaged.
Repair it: PlexDBRepair/Windows at master · ChuckPa/PlexDBRepair · GitHub
If you must, restore an older backup of the database and repair that.

Get a UPS unit for your server. This will help it to shut down in an orderly fashion and thus retain the integrity of the server database.
