I use gsuite to login, and recently I changed my email address but the gsuite account remained the same, seems like the Plex ID was associated with the email address, not the gsuite identifier, and now I have a brand new account (instead of the original one) and all my settings are lost! help!?
at the very least, can I have my old username back?!
Sorry for the trouble you’ve had. When you change the email address for an account, Google should automatically add an alias for the old address, so that you can still receive mail to that address. So, what you can do to get back in your previous/existing Plex account:
- On the web app/website login page, choose
Continue with Email
- Use the
Forgot? link and enter your previous email address (that’s on your existing Plex account)
A password reset email will be sent to that old address, which you should receive via the Google address alias. You can then use the link there to set a password for the old account (or change the password if you already have one on that account).
Once you do that, you can edit the account as desired (such as to change the email address) on your Account page (https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/account). Note that email addresses on Plex accounts must be unique, so if your new address is already in use on another/new Plex account, you’ll want to first change the address on that new account to “free it up”.
You can also unlink the Google Login from the account and then manually link with the Google Login for your changed Google account (https://support.plex.tv/articles/115001686534-use-your-google-or-facebook-account-with-plex/).
