My Plex has been hacked, advice needed... :-(

I am running Plex for Unraid, version 1.9.7.4460-a39b25852-x64.

Yesterday I received an email from Plex to say that my password had been changed and giving me the opportunity to change it back, which I did. I also changed the password to something much stronger!

The account had been changed from my email address to [redacted], with the username [redacted].

I think I managed to change it all back, but now I am unable to connect to the server. I have confirmed in the Unraid interface that Plex is definitely running, but when I go to the web interface it just says “Install your new server” As far as I can tell, all of the data files are still there.

I’m puzzled how the Plex web gui is showing, but no server. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

If you will also reach out to billing via http://plex.tv/contact , explaining what happened, with some definitive documentation that the account is yours, they will be able to help you.

if you checked this box during the change, the login token for your server might have been invalidated

You may have to perform this procedure to get your server logged in to your account again

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it made no difference. I have contacted the billing people.

No luck with the suggested link. I have signed out of everything and deleted the entries in the Preferences.xml file as instructed. I can log in ok, but it gets stuck on “Looking for servers”.

You clipped a crucial detail from your screenshot. Are you logged in to a plex account at this stage?

Did you stop the plex server before editing the preferences.xml?
Did you restart it afterwards?

Yes, I am logged into an account when the screenshot was taken. I logged out of everything, stopped the Plex server in the Unraid interface, edited the Preferences.xml, restarted the server and logged back in.
