My plex media server can't access plex.tv

I’m have a super strange issue.

My computer with plex can’t access plex.tv properly witch is causing the server to be unusable.
It all started with my account being “unclaimed”. I tried to claim it but nothing happens. I tried to repair my setup and restored it to previous version but same problem. Uninstalled Plex to reinstall it. When I went to plex to get the latest version I get an error from the site “app.plex.tv took too long to respond when I try to sign in.
WHen I try to access the download page it says " Opps, looks like we can’t retrive downloads at this time, please return later”.

From all my other devices there is no problem at all.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

already tried. Tried 3 different browsers. Same problem all over…

That’s where I get “Oop, looks like we can’t retreive downloads at this time, please return later”. If I click it on my other computer it works fine. But on the one that runs the server I get the error message. Also if I try to go to plex.tv in the bowser it times out… So strange.

Try changing your DNS

https://1.1.1.1/dns/

It’s an app for apple or android, how does that apply here ? I’m on a windows 10 desktop.

So it’s not the server your trying to update? The app downloads are on same page.

Your saying your Browser presents a time out, using a different DNS than your current one my resolve

I’m just trying to communicate with plex.tv from my host computer not even that is possible, but it works from my main desktop, it works from my phone and tablet and laptop. But the computer running the plex media server can’t even go to the homepage plex.tv without timing out. For some reason if I google plex and click the link via google then I can access the page… but when I click login I get a blank page. and when I try to download it times out.

If somebody from the future stumbles upon this thread:

Open notepad as admin and open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts delete any mentions of plex then save the file. Then if you had my problem it should be solved, mine was.
