Unable to access Plex.tv

Hi there,

I’m having a weird issue with the Plex.tv site on my PMS host Windows 10 machine. I’m simply unable to access it. The problem is solely with this computer. My work PC, Mac laptop and iPhone are all fine.

When I try to load app.plex.tv on the server PC, I get this error:

I mainly use Brave but the problem persists across clean versions of Edge and Firefox, so I know it’s nothing to do with any extensions that I’ve installed.

I’ve tried temporarily disabling the Windows firewalls, connecting to the internet via my phone in case of a router issue and even doing an in-place upgrade install for Windows 10 and reinstalling PMS. Nothing works.

One odd detail is that when I try to access Plex locally via 192.168.0.1:32400/web on the PMS machine, I can see and play my content without actually being signed in. When I attempt to, I’m redirected to app.plex.tv and it’s back to square one.

Pretty stumped by this one. Any help greatly appreciated!

See if the date and time settings of this machine is anything close to reality.
Enable the automatic time synchronization in the control panel of Windows. (And don’t block its attempts to do this with some kind of firewall.)

See if you can use 8.8.8.8 as DNS server, instead of anything supplied by your ISP. This can be defined in your router (where it’s valid for your whole local network).
Alternatively, you can also set it for the network connection of your Plex server machine alone.

If you don’t have access to the server settings at all, you probably need to perform You need to reclaim your server, but don't dare to touch the Windows Registry

I’ve kinda fixed it.

I literally just noticed in the last five minutes that I can access app.plex.tv via a private Tor window in Brave. My main issue was not being able to use the Plex for Windows app as I couldn’t authorise it, but this discovery has fixed that. I still have no idea why I can’t access Plex.tv without this workaround though.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

My bet is still on DNS.

Okay. I’ll look into that a bit deeper. Thanks again.
