My podcasts are horribly broken in many different ways!

It seems that Podcasts is a feature that’s never going to get any polish. I’ve put up with the slowness of loading for a while, the playbacks that just suddenly end on Android with having to restart the app, whatever.

But now my library is broken and it’s been broken for a while now and it never seems to get fixed, so now I guess I have to post a bug because it’s just me or something. Here’s screenshots:

As you can see in PMP, both Office Ladies and Extra Napkins have negative unplayed counts! When new shows arrive, the counts stay negative, but move closer to zero at least, so I just have to remember that they’re forever stuck at -13 & -12 respectively when everything has been played.

Also, Weird Medicine continues to show up in my PMP after removal. When I click on it’s icon, I get the following in Screenshot 2. I’ve right clicked and reloaded PMP, no change.

Now, at the same time on Android, I get similar, but slightly different behavior. On Android, Office Ladies & Extra Napkins NEVER show the unplayed counts, as in Screenshot 3. You have to click into each one to see the orange play buttons on unplayed episodes.

Fortunately, at least on Android, Weird Medicine no longer shows up correctly as in Screenshot 4.

But I still am completely unable to add the show’s new RSS Feed (the URL changed to Weird Medicine with Doctor Steve). When I try to add the feed using the Add a podcast overflow menu item, all that happens is it loads up the old feed (See screenshot 5), that stopped at episode 414.

For reference, if you load the feed currently in a regular web browser, as in Screenshot 6, you’ll note that they’re on episode 421. I’ve now missed 7 weeks of episodes for this show.

Would love to know how to fix this.

Having the same issues. Some podcasts work correctly, some don’t. Some don’t display unplayed counts and others show negative unplayed counts. Has anybody got any idea’s on how to solve this?

I like how Plex is trying to create a one stop platform but I remember how unreliable syncing video content was when I tried using it for a week so I am not surprised podcasts are having the same issue.

Podcast module has been a dumpster-fire that hasn’t been looked at or cared about for awhile. As much as I want there to be updates and improvements, it hasn’t been touched and I doubt anyone is listening to us.

There site states, Plex brings together all the media that matters to you.

Well podcasts matter to me and I would like Plex to improve and fix the bugs. I have paid for the software and would expect a stable experience.

I don’t have any problem with Podcasts on Plex other than the web UI defaulting to ‘Recommended’ rather than ‘My Podcasts’.
Plex seems to be able to sync the podcasts from the RSS feeds at least within 24 hours of a new podcast being released on itunes or wherever. Plex also keeps very good track of which episodes i have listened to and keeps track of my use in episodes which are not fully played.

There are RSS feed online converters which work wonders for getting the correct RSS URL for Plex to accept.

FWIW - I recently installed a Pi-Hole (https://pi-hole.net/) on my home network and it seems to have resolved a lot of the ongoing issues with the Plex Podcasts play queue on iOS. Could be totally coincidental but it is blocking DNS requests from my phone for app-measurement.com and api.segment.io when I launch Plex. Could it be some some kind advertising telemetry in the background is what is causing issues with the Podcasts play queue?

Which one do you use or recommend?

Bump for visibility. Are there any Plex employees here? This is something the community can’t resolve itself!
