I’ve added a couple of podcasts by URL and when I open either one I get a toast notification saying “This directory appears to be empty”. I’m assuming this is referring to the feed not returning any episodes but I’ve checked the feed and they’re there. In fact the podcast icon in the app has a number on it which I assume is an indicator of how many unread episodes there are for that podcast. The feed URL is: https://apps.jw.org/S_RSSMEDIAMAG?rln=S&rmn=w&rfm=mp3
I’ve checked the other podcasts app I have on my device and it shows and plays the episodes list so the feed appears to be good, although something there is probably causing the Plex app to fail.
@davidiq Sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems adding a podcast in the Android client. I just tried to add the podcasts you posted and it worked fine by me. If it still doesn’t work for you, would you mind creating a thread in https://forums.plex.tv/categories/android-mobile (Android client forum) providing app logs?
Oops, sorry. I copy/pasted the wrong feed URL. I’ve updated the link in the first post. Also tried removing the podcast and re-adding with the same results.
The above feed seems to be ok now (“ok” as in I don’t get the error anymore). But I guess that’s only because there are now episodes for June since those are the only ones listed even though the unplayed number icon for the podcast has a much higher number. So it looks like the list is being read somewhere but being mostly ignored elsewhere, perhaps because the list is being filtered on your end to show only the current month’s episodes. This other feed, which I also have on my list of podcasts, shows the same error though: https://apps.jw.org/S_RSSMEDIAMAG?rln=S&rmn=g&rfm=mp3
Same deal on my iPad and on the web app, which says “An error occurred loading items to play” even though there are unplayed items according to the feed icon.
So today it was announced that this feature is now out of Beta, but none of the above has been addressed or even acknowledged??? How could that possibly be???
@jesusmc I am also getting this same error, sorry to necro a dead post, however, it would appear this is still a bug, the podcasts work fine in plex web, but not on android running 7.26.0.14578
I kind of gave up on custom/personal podcasts in Plex and switched back to Podcast Addict on Android, which works perfectly and does playlists masterfully. Too bad though since I would have loved to simply use Plex for this.
