Unplayed podcasts episodes counts are effing garbage

Some show 1, some show 2, some show 49 or 99, none of them are accurate.

I’m at my wit’s end with this crap already. How do you bring this out of beta when you can’t even count unplayed episodes accurately (and this has been an issue since the beginning of the beta)?

only one of these is accurate…

@SamFromPlex any idea how to fix this?

@alexhawker Hey, sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems with the app. In order to investigate this, could you tell us if the actual problem is? What should be the correct count for those items?

Thanks in advance

0/0/0/4…

These are waaaaaaaaaaaaay off, as you can see. And I have more examples of this, it affects maybe 1/4 of my library

I’m having this issue as well. No clue where these numbers come from. I’ll mark an entire podcast as played except for the last episode, and then a few minutes later I’ll have an unplayed count in the hundreds. The actual played/unplayed status of my episodes is fine, the count is just jacked up.

Because I can’t stop thinking about this one, I think I know what the issue is. Some podcast providers regularly change the RSS feed so that it only shows X number of episodes. When a new episode is posted, the whole feed changes and Plex gets confused.

Here’s a simple 5-episode RSS feed that changes every day. As you might expect, right now I’m looking at 5 unplayed episodes even though only this morning’s hasn’t been played yet. I’ll mark everything as played later today when I’m done, but tomorrow the number will jump right back up to 5.

Not sure what the fix would be, but that’s the problem as far as I’ve been able to observe it.
