It seems all my web clients are unable to connect, which are the only clients that I have that use a secure connection. The rest still works fine. Can a plex employee have a look at my server certificate and verify that it’s still valid?
While I don’t see any DNS issue listed on the status page, I have heard multiple people about it. I have been using the direct IP as workaround for the people that need it so it’s not affecting me that badly. Is the issue currently being investigated by Plex?
It was an issue yesterday which has been fixed. Chances are that it may be fixed for you as well, after you
- restart Plex server (or the server machine)
- restart the Plex client(s)
I’ve rebooted my server and checked if plex is accessible through plex.tv, sadly I still get the same result.
In this case, I’d continue by determining if your router (or more precisely the local DNS resolver) is interfering – probably by applying DNS rebinding protection.
Particularly if you recently added something like a DNS-based filter to your network (Pi-hole etc.) or replaced your router, or even just applied a router firmware upgrade.

I have DNS rebinding disabled, and I am not using anything such as a Pi-Hole. I have other services that run on my Plex server and those are able to do DNS requests without any problems. I have already tried a lot of things to try and resolve this (change DNS server, check the network settings of my server and some other things). I heard that Plex was making changes to their certificates, so my guess is that the issue lies there. My Plex server is still fully accessible outside my network using the app, just not using plex.tv
Although your certificate was relaticely recent and valid, I have reset it now.
Please reboot your server and clients now.
P.S.: make sure all your devices have automatic time synchronization activated. Secure connections absolutely need this.
Thanks for the help so far. Sadly still no access. My timezone+ntp server configuration is correct.
As for now I’m kind of at a loss. I might try a couple of different DNS servers that aren’t my provider, it’s just weird that this has always worked fine and now just doesn’t for no apparent reason.
Same problem here remote access stopt working for a few clients whenever they switch to mobile data they van Connect. This has worked for years No change in setup on server or cliënt. Also subtitles with the ans8 code to
Go to top of screen does not work when burn in subtitles is set to automatic. Made a post no reply. Plex moderators please fix these issues asap. Gr
If they can connect when going through the EXTERNAL LTE/Cellular path,
THEN
This tells you part of the wired (ISP) path is blocked.
Draw the paths and look at difference betwen External LTE and External Wired
I dont know how to draw the path like you described. I would like to know how to unblock the client. This has worked with No change in setup for years. Tnx in advance. Gr.
Although this isn’t really related to my issue, the request should always traverse through the ISP regardless the connection type right?
@banginbeatz1982_gmail_com do these wired clients use their mobile phone for Plex?
Yes they test it on mobile Phone than it Works but on cable or WiFi server unavailable
Hello everyone.
I found the issue, it was the DNS of my provider that was blocking plex.tv.
I changed my DNS to a different DNS server, and now everything works again.
Ok so i tried to change my dns server but when i do this my internet connection stops working when i change it back it works again anyone willing to explain how to change this in router or on server only?
