Server Version#: 1.18.2
Player Version#: 4.12.2 (any)
To remove all variables, this has nothing to do with the players. None of them can see the servers. I tried using web player, iOS, AppleTV. My server was set up and working for more than a year on my Synology 918+. I haven’t used the server in a few days, but I went to use the web client today and both my local server and a remote server that I have access to say “unreachable”. Both of these servers are running on Synology’s. I have to assume something is wrong with the server side. Previous server software worked and wasn’t updated for at least a month, then stopped working. I installed the latest version in case that was the issue, but I got the same unreachable status. The remote server is still on the previous software that was working before. I tried a local IP address for my server, I checked the status of the server in the Synology software (“running”), no errors. I haven’t changed any firewall settings, but not ruling out that something might have changed. I am trying to bring any reader up to speed on the problem, but I am open to any ideas. It could be something really obvious and dumb, but I’ll try anything. I did search the forum, but I didn’t see anything that was really that close to this issue. Thanks.
Please manually get the logs:
- File station
- Plex share - give your username permission in Control Panel - Shared Folders if needed
- Drill in
- ZIP of the Logs directory please
- Attach that ZIP file here.
I have a new DS1019+ and PMS (latest version) that I set up this weekend and it’s been going unresponsive once a day.
Most times I can stop/start in Package Center, but once I had to kill -9 to get it stopped.
I’ve been looking at the logs for the tvdb issue, and haven’t seen anything obvious but can bundle them up next time it crashes if needed. Hard to tell exactly when it stops responding though.

I hear what you are saying, but I’m thinking it’s not an issue with my network. I’m guessing it’s the way Plex is trying to access my network. My network hasn’t changed in any way that I’m aware of. I have no other issues with accessing my network, including streaming from other clients. I have no issues with the internet either. I’ve tried accessing the server on cellular on my phone. Also the remote server isn’t on my network but is also inaccessible.
Your assessment could be correct, but there is really nothing I can change in my network. I’ve restarted the modem and router/security gateway just in case. I’ve checked my port forwarding for plex. I’m happy to try any checklist that you may have. But I find it odd that I can’t access the remote server on a different network, even on cellular connection (outside my home network). Any other ideas? Thanks.
What Plex is seeing is that the adapter itself is going OFFLINE/ONLINE. (state change)
This will happen if a VPN is activated or other major routing table change.
It then resets, waits, and tries again.
The logs show that the connection is not stable (logically speaking) when it’s trying to access.
OK, but like I said, I’m unable to access the remote server as well, either by my home network or through cellular. Both networks (my server and the remote server) could not have both become unstable after over a year of use with no issue? Neither network has a VPN being used. The networks have worked flawlessly for a couple years. I am not seeing any other visible issues on the network. Everything else streams, speedtests show the same speeds, no instability visible anywhere. Is there a next step we can take to resolve this? Thanks.
With it going online/offline as Plex sees it, it will never be remotely accessible through plex.
Have you installed and OS or other updates (device firmwware, etc) recently ?
Has the ISP changed in any way?
I’ve installed the new MacOS on my computer, but no change to the NAS. But I don’t think the MacOS is related because I can’t reach from other clients (iOS or AppleTV). The remote server hasn’t been updated on the NAS or any other local client. The ISP hasn’t changed as far as I know. I still have the same IP address. Appreciate your help, and I will continue to troubleshoot your suggestions.
Hi ChuckPA, is there any further info on this? Is there a more direct way I can get support for this issue? I don’t see other options to contact you directly or any other support team member. Thanks.
I am having the exact same issue here. DS 918 running Version 1.18.2.2058. Nothing changed on the network and I can’t access any video libraries but the music works fine. I dont think it’s a network issue. Logs attached. Plex Media Server Logs_2019-11-25_17-59-47.zip (1.8 MB)
Hi Applexserver,
I just checked mine again, and it’s working now. I have no explanation, but I can tell you what happened between then and now. I restarted my DS 918 just now. I still haven’t updated my Synology firmware either, I’m still running DSM 6.2.2 Update 3. I had previously restarted my NAS and restarted all network equipment. Nothing worked before. However, I just restarted the NAS today for an unrelated reason, and it worked this time.
The remote server still wasn’t working (DS 1817). That one was restarted after it was updated to Update 4, and now that one is reachable. It unlikely has to do with the update since my local server and this remote server are now on different firmware versions. It might just be the restart mixed with some behind the scenes update with either Plex backend, my ISP, or something else.
TL;DR, try restarting the server again if you haven’t today. I can’t find any logical explanation for it working, but it did for me (just today).
