My Smart TV Plex App can't connect to my server

I’m confused. My Samsung Smart TV can’t connect to my server. They are on the same network (and it’s worked in the past). My TV CAN connect to my friend’s server from another state. My server is showing that remote access is NOT available even though it is. My friend from another state is able to access my content. Remote access shouldn’t be necessary anyway, if I’m not mistaken, because my TV is on the same network as my server (the server is connected to my router via ethernet, and the TV is connected to wifi. I have port forwarding set up through my router.
