Hi
I’m new here, never asked a question before as I’ve managed to work things out for myself. This one, however, has me stumped. I’ve recently come back to plex after a year’s layoff due to having no PC to use as a server. On my old server Life on Mars (the orginal BBC version from 2006) was recognised correctly. The new server, however, insists on recognising the same files with the same names as “Life on Mars (US)” and I just can’t convince it otherwise. TheTVDB calls the show “Life on Mars” so I can’t see what I’m doing wrong.
Does anybody else have the same issue? Better yet, does anybody have a solution?
Thanks in advance
Gareth
First you should be using this structure:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
TV Shows <— The library points here
---------TV Show Name (Year first aired if needed) <— This folder holds the season folders
------------------Season 01 <— This folder holds all the episodes for season 01
-------------------------ShowName - s01e01 - Episode Name.ext
-------------------------ShowName - s01e02 - Episode Name.ext
-------------------------And so on for the rest of season 01
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
If you are using that structure then try naming the folder for “TV Show Name” as:
“Life on Mars (2006)”
and each ShowName as:
“Life on Mars - sXXeYY - Episode Name.ext”
The “- Episode Name” is optional and the “date” should be generally left off the actual episode names.
Note: For Plex the “Folder name” is MUCH more important that the names of the included episodes.
Edit: If you rename things in place then a simple refresh probably will not fix the problem and you need to perform the “Plex dance”
