We are unable to connect to our Plex server remotely, though internal access works fine. When attempting to connect externally, clients either show ‘unavailable/cannot security access’ or ‘server is logged in but cannot connect.’ The server status briefly shows ‘successful’ (green text) before reverting to ‘not working’ (red text) after a second.
Steps Taken:
- Successfully set up port forwarding on routers (verified with port testing tool, per help documentation)
- Updated and restarted all components (server, clients, routers)
- Disabled firewalls on clients and router, no VPNs running
- Enabled UPnP, then manually forwarded ports (default port 32400 unsuccessful, but 32401 worked)
Current Status:
- Internal access: Working
- External access: Failed
- Port forwarding: Verified working through test tool
