Need help setting up a WD cloud drive

I currently run Plex through an app on my LG TV using the itunes library on my Mac. My itunes library is limited due to hard drive size. I have a number of movies on an external drive, but it is too cumbersome to have the external drive attached at all times.

Is it possible to plug a WD My Cloud Personal Network Attached Storage containing my files directly to the LG TV and have the Plex App access it without the need of a laptop? IF this isn’t the right hardware then what should I use. I am looking for something compact. Would it be possible to give others access to that cloud drive to play my content on their Plex App?

I am a complete novice at this so I need a setup that my 3 year old will be able to operate.

TIA

No… the Plex environment depends on a client/server model.
So you’ll need at least some machine that runs the Plex Media Server app to which the clients can connect – no need for this to be a dedicated computer… you could also use a halfway decent NAS (e.g. QNAP, Synology…).

I recommend to read through the What is Plex support article to get some better idea of what you’re dealing with. There’s also support articles on how to share your library with friends.
