I am trying to log in to my Plex app on my android phone and it asks for a Verification code. I have no idea what this code is. From what I’ve researched I have to use Authenticator or Google Authenticator to scan a QR code. I have no idea how or where to get this QR Code from. I have 2FA on my Plex account. Can someone tell me how to get the verification code or to scan a QR code to use for authenticator to log in to my Plex account on my phone?
This doesn’t help me. My situation is not how to set up 2FA because I already have that set up. I can’t get a QR code when I try to log in to the Plex app on my phone. How do I either get that or the verification code?
What specific process did you go through to set it up? The QR code should have appeared when you set up 2FA (shown in the article linked above), which you then should have scanned with an authenticator app, which then generates verification codes.
That’s not my issue. My issue is I don’t have that code. Where do I get it from? You don’t read well at all, moron.
I open up the Plex app on my phone, log in with my username and password, then it asks for a verification code. I don’t know where to get that. Assuming that I need Authenticator to get verification code. I don’t have Plex set up on Authenticator and Authenticator asks for a QR code. I don’t know where to get a QR code for Plex. And yes a QR code probably did show up when I set up 2FA, a year ago… I don’t have that QR code anymore.

What flow was referring at is that you need to use the authenticator app you used to setup the 2fa for Plex. This will give show you a verification code for Plex that’s usually valid for 30 seconds. The exact details will slightly vary depending on what exact authenticator you’re using.
From what you describe, it seems you used a different authenticator app/account when you first setup 2fa for Plex. That’s when you’re asked to use the QR code from Plex to setup the authentication. After setting up 2fa in your authenticator app, you no longer need any QR codes.
Once you did that, the authentication app should display a reference to the Plex account and the currently valid verification code.

The QR code is a one-time thing, only used during the initial setup of 2FA. If you were able to enable 2FA, that means that you scanned it with something that was able to generate the verification code to enable it. If you don’t have that device anymore, or don’t have the app that you used to set it up initially, my advice would be to disable/re-enable 2FA by doing the following:
- Go to your Account page.
- Under Two-Factor Authentication, select ‘Disable’:
- Choose ‘Verify another way’, and then ‘Email temporary code’:
- Enter the recovery code sent to your email:
- Follow the steps in the article linked above to re-enable 2FA, making sure you use your authenticator app to scan the QR code and get your initial verification code.
OK so I have to disable 2FA in Plex in order to get the verification code, correct?

I’m saying that it sounds like you don’t have access to the device/app you used to set up 2FA initially, so if you want to get verification codes, it might be easiest re-setup 2FA using a device/app that you do have access to.

Use of a 3rd party auth app is recommended (Plex requires us to use 2FA for all systems). I also took a screenshot of my auth codes.
