Here’s the short and sweet version. The other night I upgraded my Avast! Antivirus to Premier with Firewall AddOn and VPN AddOn. After I did this I cannot connect to Plex outside of my living Room. Not even on my PS3 in bedroom. I know the issue lies within the Avast! software. I have already set Plex up for exclusion and still I cannot connect. Even tried to manually setup port forwarding on my Cisco router. Still nothing. Someone please point me in the right direction. I know networking. I hvae tried to uninstall both avast premier and Plex both. Even went as far as reinstalling Plex on a different internal hard-drive. There is some damn setting with Avast that will allow me access through the VPN there has to be. I am running Windows 10 32 Bit. Have # TB of Space in the tower another 3TB externally. You won’t get Avast gurus here - for that you’d want their forums. Here you’ll get Plex gurus, who won’t be reaching out to you by email (but hey, you will now get more spam since you posted your email address).
I’d suggest you try on the Windows sub-forum, providing details like the exact version number of Plex you installed, what version of Windows you’re running and so on.
I don’t care about spam. that doesn’t bother me. All I’m attempting to do is reach out to anyone with knowledge about how to run plex through the avast firewall and VPN. No need to be condescending. I realize I am new to these message boards. every message board has their own rules. If I offended you in some way I apologize. thank you for the advice on which forum to try. Much appreciated!
Another pro-tip: when posting, please use a descriptive subject. 99% people starting a thread “need help” so your post appears as meaningless in the message feed and likely to be overlooked by those eyes you’re hoping to attract. I usually don’t even bother
