Need input on NAS for Plex Media Server / DVR

I’d have posted this in the NAS section, but I’d have to choose a brand. :neutral:

I’m looking for a NAS device (or system) to run Plex Media Server that is:

  1. Economical
  2. Adequate for PMS (including DVR, but no need for transcoding because that’s done on my HDHomeRun Extend as I record).
  3. Native Plex support (don’t want to have to hack it)
  4. Low power / low heat / low noise
  5. Preferably in the 4Tb range
  6. Economical :wink:

I bought the WD My Cloud 4 Tb NAS, thinking it was one of the models listed as compatible. It is not, so it’s going back. I got a great deal on it ($158 shipped) by way of a Plex Plus discount that has since expired. Any suggestions in the sub $200 (USD) price range?

There are many many posts on NAS and all sorts of servers.

And you will struggle with a $200 budget!
