This is actually happening on both of my devices.
On my mobile phone (Android 11) and on my TV with MiBox (Android TV).
On both devices, I can start watching any file with subtitles (.srt) and those are shown fine.
But, if for example, I will put the MiBox to sleep (by using the power button on the remote) or will switch to any different app (Youtube/Netflix/Prime) and then will open/start Plex again and start playing any video file, I wouldn’t see any subtitles at all.
The only solution for me is to open the properties of the app, kill the app/process, open Plex and start watching again.
The same is happening on my phone. If I will put my phone to sleep even for a moment, then wake up the phone (and I will see paused Plex), if I will resume the playback, I won’t see any subtitles. And the same workaround applies - I need to open the app properties, kill the process (Stop the app from running), and start the Plex app again.
I can see that someone on the internet mentioned exactly the same with a Smart TV Sony on the Chromecast and or Sony forum, so seems I am not the only one who has the same problem.
