Need understanding why new recorded shows goto "Season 2020"

My plex server is running on a Ubuntu linux server with a dedicated Hard Drive mounted to my media folder within plex.

/var/lib/plexmediaserver/media/

Inside media, I have a folder for recorded tvshows where my shows reside.

As of recently, I have seen a new season folder in each of my shows that I have recordings going on called “Season 2020”, and I am seeing duplicates episode’s being saved in that folder instead of Plex seeing the episode has already been recorded and skipping it. The S/E number in the file name is S2020E### where ### represents the number in line of the entire series and not just the season. For mash I had a S2020E197. If left alone, plex will place every new recorded episode of MASH in season 2020 with a E### from 01 to 230.

In the event its a legit new show, I can correct the S##E## number and move it to the correct season folder and PLEX finds it and TheTVDB correctly identified it. Otherwise currently I just delete it unless it has detected commercials better and I have reason to replace the existing file.

Why are my recordings NOT being saved in the correct location?

Here is a example from a recording which just finished…

It is part of a work around for when the EPG doesn’t have all the data or it doesn’t match up with the TVDB especially if you have “new and repeats” selected for recording. Instead of flushing the episode it writes it off to the Season 2020 folder which allows you to relocate it later.

So I am under the impression since I am not recording new series, that I have to pick New and Repeats, other wise none of my shows will be recorded. As there are no NEW episodes of MASH (though that would be cool to see).

Whats even odder is that TVDB finds the show and correctly identifies the episode name. When on a client, looking at JAG Season 2020, I see a recording for Survivors the same I would if I went into Season 01.
