NetTV Plex - Development Preview

Also, if you integrate myplex into this app, you can just connect to your local server by it's public ip. That would essentially be routed inside your own network I assume, and it would solve the problem of the private/public boundary.

Some routers don’t support that sort of loopback. Hence why myPlex also provides the local IP for servers as well

I'm new to Plex, but I love it! I have a new Philips Smart TV, and it's a shame it isn't available (yet). Many thanks to all the hard work that's being done to make this possible!

I hope to see a Plex client for the new Philips 2013 TV's too!

Any news on this nice Project?

Very interesting project. Any news?

Any News of this great project?

I installed it on a public server and if I access that page with the internal browser of a Philips TV I get the Plex logo and nothing happens (waited more than 10 minutes).

Am I missing something or it just doesn't work on this TV?

The developer even said it wasn't working on his TV

My dad seems to by just the wrong equipment.

He also has an Apple TV 3rd generation which doesn't work without additional software which is obvious some hack that will not work in the future (plexconnect). Its Windows software is paid software....

A Raspberry Pi is at this moment the best option although I think that hardware is still a bit meagre...

I haven't been able to spend as much time on this as I would like.

The goal of having an official Plex app on the platform is laudable but I wonder whether it would be more realistic to go down the PlexConnect route for Apple TV ie route all requests from Net TVs via a local web server which would add the Plex app to the list of apps returned by the real server?

I would also love to get this up and running on my Philips 2013 47PFL5008K

I also get just the Plex icon there. I added it to my Homeserver IIS.

Hi,

I got it to work somehow. At first I just wanted to get this up and running within the emulator but when I tried it again on my TV it was just working.

I think it belongs to a problem with the movie database. I cleaned up a lot of my films and tv series and now it works like expected.

So please try to start with a small amount of videos/films which can be successful analyzed. Maybe we can get to the problem on this way.

I cannot reproduce the error anymore because I renamed and deleted a lot of files.

I've a Philips 47PFL5008K/12 with Opera 12 running.

Thanks a lot!

Hey Snoerenberg, could you tell me how to install the app? I have an almost identical TV, and I entered the  http://udvikl.es/nettv/plex/  into my opera browser but it hangs on the plex logo:(

Hi,

I downloaded the zip file which is within the first post. I added this webpage to my IIS on my microsoft homeserver 2011.

Somewhere was written that a remote connect does not work so you've to host this webpage within your network somehow.

When you need further details how to setup this on Windows I could help you.

Regards,

Stephan

Thanks, I got it working on my Philips 47PFL5008T using PMS on Synology DS213+.

Edit: Media in 2.35:1 format is streched vertically. Any way to fix this? Clicking on the Format-button on the remote will exit the Plex client.

Is this project dead?

Just wanted to share my two cents on trying this project.

I put the files on my own internal webserver and tried it out on a Beoplay V1 TV. At first I was just getting the Plex logo hanging forever. Then i tried again a couple of hours later and then it worked and showed all my Plex sections..

The user experience was not very good, but that was mostly because the select button on my remote didn't respond most of the time in the webbrowser on the TV and in the Plex App (it works fine in all other menus on the TV so probably a bug in the smart TV browser).

I was able to use an Ipad as an external keyboard (with an App B&O has developed for their smart TV's). This was much more responsive, but not the best way to navigate in the plex interface.

Just tried to play a little of a few videos from my library with out problems.

Could be interesting if this project got developed further.

Hey guys,

I wrote to the developer of this NetTV Plex client to see where it was going, as development seems to have stopped and was hoping for NetTV support, and got a response from him that due to a bug in the NetTV platform that according to their techsupport won't be solved any time soon, he decided to stop development.

I'm assuming the bug is the 'local XHR' bug that he mentions in the thread.

Very unfortunate, as it seemed very promising.

Regards.
