Network vs internet usage

when i use plex on my phone and connect to my plex streaming server, am i directly connecting to my server on my network (phone is using wifi and on same network), or am i using internet streaming thereby eating up my phone providers bandwidth allocation?

If your server and phone are on your home network then audio and video stream locally and do not use your mobile bandwidth or your home Internet bandwidth.

There will be a minuscule amount of traffic over the Internet for authentication and such.

You can verify connectivity via the Now Playing section in the Plex Dashboard. It will show if a connection is local or remote.

Thank You FordGuy61, That was to my point, you’ve answered my question - I think Plex should make this clear and in bold letters
