This is a problem that just tends to come back to my server(s) periodically and I just deal with it, but it’s getting more often and more annoying.
It scans my music folder forever. I didn’t add anything. I didn’t initiate a scan. I just scans forever until I force close the program (and even then most of the time I have to load the task manager and close it out forcefully there too).
Here’s they twist - I now have a separate server just for music (though I leave the music part on my other server as well pointing to the same music) - and the NEW server on a much more powerful computer does the same thing. Scans forever - CANCEL SCAN does nothing - I have to right click the server and exit to get it to stop.
Because it’s doing the same thing on both servers, I have a theory about maybe something that might be causing it - I have all my music on a DIFFERENT computer but as a network share. It works perfectly when streaming music.
But - could the fact that the music is not physically on the computer or a drive attached to the computer where the Plex server is be causing this???
I’ve posted this problem multiple times over the years and have never gotten any solution from the Plex team or anyone.
It’s REALLY frustrating.
Hoping someone has a solution.
