New Development - Opera TV App Store (Tivo, Sony TV, Samsung BluRay, etc.)

I would be very interested.  I was very disappointed to learn that my Samsung BD-H5100 did not support Plex.  I would love to test.

Hi, downloaded the Plex app for my Sony BDP-S5200 tonight, looks great and might solve me the problem of buying a dedicated media player.

Only problem I have is it’s not outputting any sound over the coaxial output, only via HDMI to my TV. As I have a legacy amp that doesn’t take HDMI, I do need the DD over coax.

When I stream the same movies via DLNA from Plex media server on the Sony (from main sony menu, not Opera TV store app), I do get DD5.1 output.

Appreciate you’ve probably got loads to sort but thought I would flag this.

Having trouble connecting to my server.

From my Sony XBR-65X950B I added Plex via the Opera TV App.  Then validated with pin after launching Plex.

Now is says no media servers found and to upgrade "My Server" (It displays the name of my server) to 0.9.10.1 (which it already is that version).

Just below is says to restart the servers and check that they are online and Connected to plex.tv (which they are).

I have opened port 32400 on my router and can launch the server from computer.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

ap

Loving this new app so far, been using it non stop on my new bravia KDL50W800B.

Only thing I have found is the audio track selector dropdown on shows doesn't select the alternate stream like I was expecting. Will retest this to confirm.

EDIT: My mistake, doesn't have audio track selector. But have noticed something else, now the Yellow border on selected items no longer appears. Makes it awfully hard to navigate!

Also just found one little problem with a file. I'm sure it is the source mp3 stream that is not transcoding. It plays video fine, but not audio. Plex Server says it is transcoding Video but Direct Playing Audio, but can hear no audio on the tv. Only file so far that has this problem. Audio stream transcodes/direct plays fine to Windows 8, iOS and Android clients.

Thanks a ton, keep up the nice work!

Sorry for another post, but just found another file that seems to not be playing audio on the KDL-50W800B. Seems to be a MP3 thing, as other files don't have this issue, and the audio again plays fine on other clients.

Hi everyone,

I was super excited to hear that Plex would finally be supported on my Sony Smart TV and tested the app right away. When I open the app within the opera app store, the app starts correctly and asks me to log in using plea.tv/pin. This seems to work correctly as well. Then, The my TV asks me if if would like to open the browser. If I decline, the loading sign on top of the pin will not disappear, if I accept, the browser is opened and I get Plex web (where I have to log in again and also Plex will be showing up in the upper left hand corner only). Any fixes to this?

I have a similar problem with my Sony Bravia using the Opera TV store. No matter if I open the browser to insert a PIN, each time I launch the Opera TV store to run the app it prompts for a new PIN.

I think its sad that plex announce this new app which doesn't work (no full screen) and offer no support to orca who develops a 100 times better app on samsung.

Come on plex why don't you have a look a orcas app it is far more user friendly than what you are putting out right now , that includes the playstation app as well.

Argh, same issue here with a 70" Sony (Model # KDL-70R520A ).  Load Opera/Plex and tried to launch a movie.  One out of 5 times the movie started but had clipping in the audio.  The other 4 times the application just crashed and ended up back on the home screen of the tv.  Video is only taking 1/3 to 1/2 the screen in the upper left.

Not working yet.

Hi, thanks for the App.

I have a Sony KDL-55W828B:

Is it somehow possible to get the app directly in the SEN "My APPS" list?  Now I have to open the Opera TV Store first and then open PLEX app (which works very good btw.).

Since the Sony is rather slow on opening the Opera Store App I would like to start PLEX directly. Is this something Sony must provide or can I change this somehow myself?

Can anyone answer me why it is not showing up in the TIVO Opera Store?

I just signed up for plex pass for this to use on my 70r550a. Its not full screen??? It crashes when I try and play anything. Seriously garbage. Possible to get refund on my plexpass until this is useable??

Opera app no longer working on my KDL-50w800 and BDP-S5200.

My receiver shows it is receiving a stereo audio input, but there is no sound and I cannot get it to play multi-channel audio not matter what settings I use.

Interestingly enough if I connect to my Plex server through the blu-ray players regular network interface everything plays fine although it is transcoded to m2ts with 5.1 dolby audio only.

I haven't messed with the xml file for the blu-ray player yet though.

Plex does not appear in the Opera TV store on my Sony BDP-S790. Does anyone know why?

This model appears in the list of supported devices?

I would be interested to beta test this as well, Sony TV Model: KDL-47W802A

I also have a Samsung Home Theatre and use Orca's Plex App so can give comparative feedback if interested. I have taken a Plex Pass subscription for a month to basically test the Opera App and was disappointed not to find Channels as a feature. I was disappointed of not finding Channel support in the PS4 App as well though. If adding Channels is of priority now or later to the Developers, I would be interested to beta test that as well.

Thanks for finally working on getting the App on the Sony though.

Only just found this on my Sony BluRay player. Looks good, but if I tick the options saying my receiver supports DTS and AC3 I don't get any audio on a MKV file containing a DTS 5.1 audio track.

The receiver is connected via HDMI, and if I play the same file via the BluRay player's DNLA client, I do get multichannel audio.

Any suggestions?

Andy
