I have a Sony KDL-70R550A that did the same thing, but I couldn't even get to a movie. It first showed the black box in the upper-left two-thirds of the screen, then the entire screen went blank. However, I don't plan to use Plex through the TV anyway - I just wanted to see if it worked. I'm REALLY waiting on the Tivo version...

Hi, I am unable to locate Plex on My Sony BDP-S590. I am a PlexPass subscriber.

Today the app stated up and showed a black box in the upper left area of the screen with a white background. I hit the options button, removed cookies then refreshed the page. The app loaded correctly - picked a 720p AAC 2.0 movie (Blazing Saddles) and the movie played fine, but only in that small area (the view is like a 19 inch TV - kinda a bummer for a nice 60 inch TV). So the next test I selected a 720p Dolby Digital 5.1 file (Doctor Who S5E1 - The Eleventh Hour) I saw buffering for a split second then it crashed. Reloaded the app, showed the black box on a white background, cleared the cookies and refreshed - the app loaded, still not using the whole screen only that little bit in the upper left corner.
I been using the DLNA and have not ran into any problems, with the exception of no nice posters - just ugly white folders icons. Also all the shows use the whole 60 inches of the screen :)

I could not get the app to crash like it was last night, so there is not picture of it (the black box with white background).

The first one is Plex Web, not the Opera TV app.
The Plex for Opera client has the exact same layout as the XBox 360 layout.
I have no problem running it on my test KDL-32W654A in full screen using 720p content with both DTS and DD, buffering problems exist with 1080p content as stated in my posts in the Plex for Smart TV sub forum (access for Plex Pass only though).

Hi, I am brand new here.
I have a Sony 50w829, which uses the opera tv, so I downloaded the app, signed up to plex pass and can play videos fine. My issue is that the background on the home screen/library is totally black. So i cannot see what I have selected, and it makes everything very confusing as you can not tell what you are doing.
Stumbling to a movie page I will get a background image and will then see a black outline when I navigate around that page, going back to the library the background is back to all black.
Should my background be totally black, as the highlight seems to be black as well and doesn’t seem right.
Can anyone help me out please?
