New DVR media fails to "get info"

Server Version#: 1.40.2.8312
Player Version#: All

Last night my NAS recorded some files. My plex server is running on an NVIDIA shield. The files are accessible through a SMB mount.

The server found the files and added them to the library, but I can’t play them. The file info is blank (e.g. not reporting 1080i etc.). I can download the files through “Save File”, but it appears as though the Plex server can’t make heads or tails of the files.

I can play other files that were added to the library previously, so far it’s just these files that were added last night. It also affected a file I just added from the DVR after I rebooted the shield.

I have another Plex server running on the NAS that can play the files, so I know the files are not broken for everything.

I’ve tried deleting the files, scanning the library, adding the files back, and scanning again without success. It’s as if once Plex added the files and failed to generate the info it refuses to try and generate the info again. It’s possible that when the files were added there was something wrong with the Plex server on the shield, but I was hoping that if I removed and added the files again after rebooting the shield it would behave normally. It’s as if the database is remembering the files and not rescanning them.

I can DM the logs when requested.

After a couple of days, it is working normally again. Not sure what happened. Perhaps there was something wedged (which seems weird since a reboot didn’t fix it), or perhaps PMS decided to run some other kind of analysis. I don’t know. While I wasn’t happy it was broken, I’m glad this wasn’t a persistent issue.
