But they’re not the same thing. Tv and films != music. Plex amp is a much better music app then the main plex app ever was and gets regular updates. Separate apps means each app gets updates more frequently.

I wasn’t replying to you. Who is this magical “we”? It doesn’t represent everybody. Yes the app release is a massive ■■■■ up and should never have been made public in this state. Moaning that music and photos have been removed is a completely different matter. Separate apps is the direction of travel. They’re never going to bundle music and photos back in to the main app because a couple of “we” people whine about.

Cool story. When nearly ALL productivity apps are trying to merge actions (think teams offering editing for word, excel, etc.).
Siloing actions reduces adoption (i literally do implementation/adoption for a living), its why Microsoft put Office products inside teams.
I am glad you like it, but this kind of change should be OPTIONAL.
On top of the launch failure of new UI/UX and the newly broken features we all used, its a slap in the face to users.

Casting to Chromecasts seems to be broken with the new version.
Worked 2 days ago, and now zero devices listed.
I have disabled updates to the new version, on both Apple and Android, and my old devices work fine, but my daily driver is now broken.
All other apps media apps work fine along with old Plex apps.
The new Android app has none devices with a link to info that does nothing.
I tried adding "claspws.tv to the whitelist with no effect.

Also I’m not sure if all the music I had downloaded is just sitting there taking up space or not; since I don’t see my library. I’m traveling and am not home so that sucks.
Also, no custom IOS APP option. Kind of annoying not gonna lie.
I wish i could download the old version of the app and just have access to everything in one app.
Also scrolling through my library or even just a single movie entry jumps all over my iPad Pro M4.
Don’t get me wrong, I love plex, I just feel like it should be far more polished at this stage (aka deployment) rather than a forced change. Perhaps an additional round of beta testing before forcing the update… Just my 2 cents.

since this “fancy update” on ipad os, ass subs wont display with used fonts, some fallback font is used which isnt to my likings.
also this is not stated in changelog so i hopefully assume this is an error/bug.

Tap the screen of a playing video to bring up the playback controls, then tap the three vertical dots to bring up the Settings menu. Tap the screen again to hide the controls. Do this 2 or 3 times, and the playback controls will not reappear, requiring the user to close the app and launch it again. (iPad)

Got hit with new experience on my iphone and ipad mini. Theme music now no longer plays for the shows including theme music I have added. It has also broken several menus for shows where I might see one or two episodes and not all the seasons. The show 24 is a good example where it only shows the one file in the specials and not any of the seasons. Is anyone else experiencing this?

@elan I’d like you to address this question. The reason is that Plex hasn’t clarified whether the removal of this music video feature indicates that it has been permanently eliminated or if there will be alternative plans for it down the line.

Just updated the Plex app on my iPad and what happened to Playlists??
You can’t see them on the Home Screen, you can’t add items to a playlist anymore, you can’t edit a playlist (reorder/delete items), and you can’t create new ones. I guess no-one at Plex uses playlists so they got forgotten?
Please re-release the old iOS app until the new app at least has feature parity (those features you’re planning on supporting anyway) with the old one.
Overall the new design doesn’t seem to bad, if a little large on a iPad screen, but I’ve just lost key functionality for me so it won’t be getting much use.

I think the one thing most people can agree on is the new app shouldn’t have replaced the legacy app at this stage. That’s why I stopped auto updates when I read the release announcement. Until it it’s not stupidly slow, buggy as hell and has feature parity for tv, dvr and films I’m not moving.
On the separate app front they explained their reasoning in September. Music and photos have a fraction of users that video does. They had 2 music apps - plex amp and the built in player in the main app. They wanted to get that down to one. Plex amp has been far better than then the music in the main app for a long tim3. Sure they could have gone the other way and merged plexamp in to the main app but they’re not going to.

@elan, can you tell us if theme music is coming back?
All my movies and TV shows have carefully curated theme music and it makes a big difference.
Sitting with the family to watch Lawrence of Arabia on the big TV screen and hearing the majestic sound of Maurice Jarre’s score while getting the pop corn ready is truly an outstanding experience.
Like being at the movies 
Now, that - among other things - would make the app really awesome. Again. As its predecessor was.

I haven’t been able to access remote media since the last update of the plex server. It keeps running and crashing when it loads something. I can only listen to music and watch. I can’t.
I use a Terramaster NAS with very powerful settings, but it’s still not working. I know it’s not working. I have 1GB of internet just for the server, but it has a network that supports 10GB. I even thought it was a problem with my network, but it was in the app. After the update, is there a link to previous versions of the plex server so I can downgrade? Knowing this, I will leave an unstable version of the plex server saved in case these updates happen and I return because I can only watch at home.

When I try to open my own Live TV on a iPhone 16 pro max the plex app just crashes. Every time. Worked withiut problem on the former app, thus the update is causing it.
