New Experience Public Release Feedback

Since the new version/design of the app, I can’t delete a movie / episode from my storage once watched. There is no such option.

I don’t like the new mobile app (android) layout, I don’t use LiveTV that much, nor the plex provided movies and shows so I would like the ability to HIDE THOSE options from the “permanent bottom bar”.

Also, I have a larger number of libraries and can’t see ALL of them when I search libraries. Only the top 7 libraries show up so I would have to “unfavorite” some of the libraries to see the ones that aren’t showing up.

This is not the way!!

I mainly use my mobile app as a test bed for my hosted items, I tell people to use the app to get to my server, if they want to be away from their wired options/TVs.

In the android app, my tv show library sometimes appears empty.
Also ASS subtitles are not visible during playback. I tried every combination of settings(size, color, override included style) without success

oh will you look at that downloads fail every single time, whether im transcoding or downloading original

You have to set the app to force transcoding for them to see them at all until (if) this gets fixed.

…or you could just sideload the old app and ignore this new one, you’re on Android after all.

I have a dual audio file and I picked the english language but the App is ONLY playing the foreign language and not the english! I know on the web app that the english version is in the file and played yesterday.

Too many hoops to jump through to switch between my Moves and Shows libraries.
Having the “old” way of just selecting it on the side was nice and quick, now I have to go to libraries, tap the dropdown, scroll down to the library, select that, wait for it to load, then pick my show instead of just scroll and tap since it was on the left side before.
This “Upgrade” has made me regret buying Plex pass and I am looking at switching to Jellyfin. Even if the mobile experience is the same at least I won’t be supporting a team that is pushing subpar user experience in favor of whatever this is.

casting on ipad has failed on the new version of the app 2025.10.1 (970). luckily i haven’t updated my pixel and thatvstill works.

any ideas how i raisethis with plex support directly?

I think it’s to do with the fact that from the start of the new Experience Preview the overwhelming majority of people using it have told you that they don’t like it and that the design choices made are terrible and throughout that Preview Plex have made zero changes to the design, just fixes. Plex have not listened to or used the feedback at all and then released an unfinished, not-fit-for-purpose app with less functionality as a forced replacement and expected everyone to just shrug and give them a pat on the back. The problems with the app aren’t primarily about bug fixing, they’re problems with the design choices Plex have made which won’t be fixed without a rethink of those choices.

This thread is plex support. That’s all they have.

Things haven’t been fixed in the months this app has been in preview, communication during the preview was probably the lowest it has ever been.

And whoever decided that this app was ready to release to the public in this state was probably hired straight from Sonos.

If you actually were listening, this app would not have been pushed out like this because the community has been telling you it wasn’t ready.

I like the look of the new app however there’s no way I’m updating to it until it has feature parity, isn’t slow and buggy as hell. It should never have replaced the legacy app in this state.

There’s got to be some internal politics for releasing it by some random date. You would have thought the fallout from the reputation damage of releasing a half baked app would have trumped that though. Seems like plex is going to have it’s sonos moment.

Great, except plex photos app doesn’t work either. The timeline literally never loads for me. So I essentially have no way to view my photos from my phone anymore.

Look I really tried to use the new app, I tested it for months, sent feedback, and I thought it would get better. But it seems like plex just ignored everyone’s feedback anyways.

Everything in the new app takes longer to get to and so so so long to load. It just seems to lag every time I do anything. There are UI bugs everywhere from scroll bars to scrubbing. I just don’t get it, why did this app need to get redesigned in the first place?! Also, why is it missing so many features? Why was it released if it wasn’t ready?

It took about 45 seconds for the app to actually load a movie info screen.

Even the selection screen for libraries lags when it pops up.

A little harsh, maybe?

You guys already know you messed up and im sure you’re hard at work fixing things and using this experience to avoid the same issues in the future. Another note, you should be able to hard swipe between tabs, especially recommended and library. Once tab memory is added back, that wont even be an issue, but as of now its a click on the bottom menu and a click on the top menu just to get to library pages. So many things are buggy, broken, and unintuitive it boggles the mind. not to pile on but this is not acceptable to push a broken beta as a rollout.

Agreed. I do not want 10billion apps for the same things.

If my media is together (music, movies, shows), it should be in ONE APP.

New UX is hot garbage/mess. Buggy, doesn’t save where you left off OR the view you used, no more auto skipping intros/extros, no more downloading bitrate options, no more bitrate options when I stream, too.

Not to mention, I used to be able to have a SINGLE SOURCE OF TRUTH for my Streaming… Now I need a SEPARATE APP for music. I don’t want ANOTHER app…

I want my OLD PLEX EXPERIENCE BACK! Seriously, none of these UX changes seem to be positive, and many features I used Plex for SPECIFICALLY are now gone entirely. Regretting my PlexPass purchase, now…

Like, did this go through alpha and beta testing at ALL?

In fairness they announced that the apps were going to split at the end of last year. It shouldn’t be a surprise.

No emails in my box about it… Like, I’m SO TIRED of having a billion apps that do the SAME THING.

I don’t want 6 plex apps to access a single server… And that’s the way it’ll go if they keep siphoning off features into new apps.
