have disabled auto update on Android and backed up the apk, just in case.

Not arguing, but what issues do you have with multiple libraries. I can switch between mine super quick.
the downloading of series issue is something thats in the to do list, and just like half of the to do list it should have been in from the beginning, not something you add later

Exactly! So why are Plex dev’s working on a new app look and feel rather than items on the backlog/todo list which is obviously of considerable size and would improve customer satisfaction?

because plex doesn’t really care about personal media anymore, they haven’t in years, both server and client apps are obsolete. i mean they still havent fixed an issue with avc optimized transcoding thats been around for like 5 months now or the optimized transcoder will transcode a single file then stop and you have to force it to do the next file and thats been around for 2 months

Because fixing bugs/under the hood changes aren’t interesting/sexy, whereas UX changes are more visible to users (and likely developers’ bosses). This isn’t a Plex thing, it’s industry-standard and effects many software projects (like Firefox). Bugs over a decade old still open and they keep changing the UI.

This isn’t just a new look and feel though. This is a total rewrite to get every platform on a common codebase.
I have no knowledge of the state of the previous codebase, but it may have been at a point where it was very difficult to move all the platforms forward together with the manpower they have.
The hope is that this gives them a base they can iterate on much quicker across all platforms. We will see.
It does seem like this new version launched a bit early, but at some point I’m sure it becomes difficult to both build the new app at the same time as maintaining the old app. Hopefully in a few months we will see this as a speed bump.

Yeah by now I would expect some sort of official response from upper management (instead of just the support staff)…at least an acknowledgement of where things are at, how quickly we can expect to see fixes - even if its just “weekly”, “every other week”, etc. - as we know Plex doesn’t ever give specific details on that.

If they were indeed merging their code bases into a single release system, something like react native, then that would be a VERY good reason to release a new app and they should talk about it. They don’t have to give us specifics, just a “Hey, we decided, in order best deliver apps to all different platforms, to merge our various code bases for each platform (IOS,Android,Web) into a single code base which can build a client for any platform. This merger should be able to allow us to make fixes for bugs and features more universal across all platforms.”
They did say all of that stuff. They also rushed it to production before it was ready, in spite of a bunch of people in the public beta testing channels saying “hey uhhh guys this really isn’t ready yet”.

I totally missed it then.. My apologies plex devs. But seriously, can we get a button now to download an entire series and/or show with one click.. It’s low hanging fruit.

You cannot just get rid of functionality. You can move it, you can redesign it, but you cannot get rid of it.

i have to use infuse atm since i cant even download videos, and infuse is problematic when used with plex but atleast it works mostly

On android. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled. Looks like they reverted/rolled back. The new version downloaded is not 2025.10.2, it’s 10.26.0.2578
