Yep there was a ton of outcry about it back then and they switched to the sidebar navigation. It’s like nobody at Plex remembers history.

I’m just adding my voice here: please roll back this completely unusable app.
This is no longer the time to try fixing the bugs that make it unusable—just acknowledge that there was a misstep.
It’s not glorious, sure, but it’s still less damaging than being stubborn. The app ratings are still averaging out decently on the stores, thanks to inertia.
Put the old app back on the stores, either replacing this one or as a new “Legacy” app.
Since the update, I haven’t been able to watch a single piece of media without interruption…

today i had to use safari browser with plex web to play my content in my iphone because the new app is just unusable. New app just crashes or stucks playing downloaded content. Good job converting an alpha build to “stable” app.

Today re-tested with the latest build available to me and the requirement to be online to view & play content seems to have been removed as its working now. The client shows an offline banner and local content can be accessed.
I have removed that item from my reaction post above for clarity and anyone else reading the threads.

Are you getting an error? Could you maybe provide a screenshot and some logs (including the server logs)?

for some reason the transcoder is using cpu instead of my gpu even though hevc encoding is set to always

ok spoke too soon, i let it finish the transode but it still failed the download
some stuff will fail straight away while others will transcode but fail to download

I just really miss being able to shuffle episodes on Chromecast. I have a Nest Hub I use for shows to sleep to and I used to just connect, shuffle and set a sleep timer on Plex. When I do that now, shuffle plays on the phone and still has those features. To play a show on Chromecast, it has to be in order and the only options I have are the playback controls, tracking, and volume. This new app has been nothing but trouble for me. At first I had to allowlist a domain to get casting working. Before that, I had to play a trailer and then go back to the show to get it to work. Buggy is an understatement.

New app is horrendous. This may be worse than the Sonos app debacle. I use Plex to stream my own media. This app makes it infinitely worse and more difficult. The app is slow, buggy, ugly, unintuitive and just an absolute mess. I tried it during the beta, and uninstalled it after 5 minutes. It’s just as bad now as it was then. Absolute dogwater app. Y’all should be firing people who were in charge of this redesign.

I have the same issue. And my own Live TV is gone. It crashes on open. Such a big bullshit update. Inreally hope that a lot of people at plex will loose their jobs for what they did!

I tried to use the new app for the past few days, and just can’t, it is simply not ready.

Navigation through shows is a disaster, so many clicks to get through Show / Series / Episode. Unless I’m missing something (ie to get back to library view from Episode view, does a shortcut exist?)

No download indicator where a show has been downloaded.

App seems to want to transcode for all files for me, things that previously direct played
And many many other items.
I acknowledge that some of these items are on the to-do list, however most should have been mandatory for initial release.

You might be seeing this issue:
No longer function anymore for the “Cellular Quality”. I have set this "settings > “Video & Audio” > “Cellular Quality” for mobile data rate on “2.0 Mbps, 720p”. It kept using the :Max: rate. It did surprise me cos I received the alert from my data provider that my phone data was about to run out.
Plex team. pls help to fix.
I am using Iphone 14 pro. IOS is 18.4. Plex for iOS is 2025.11.1(992).
