New Experience Public Release Feedback

When is Plex going to put back the DVR Scheduling?
This many be a “New Experience”, but “New” is not better.

Just updated to the new android version. How do I set it to automatically download a playlist?

How do I delete a video in Plex that’s on my local network that I finished watching? Is that no longer an option?

If I switch between my libraries it keeps going to the Recommended tab on top. I don’t need my own content being recommended to me. How do I change to to always be on Browse instead of Recommended? Or how do I downgrade on iOS to the previous version which has these basic features?

How do I keep my Library on Browse instead of reverting to Recommended on relaunch

Yes, this is REALLY annoying.

So for those not following close enough this new experience has been in beta test since November 2024

There are many threads complaining about the lack of features and usability.

Around January they released the Apple TV beta and a lot of people focused and pointed out flaws that existed in that app

Reporting problems and tracking those problems is rough because Plex will never implement a bug issue tracking system like GitHub has. The forum is the only way to report things and even then they can just go ignored.

How to make Plex aware of critical bugs? (10 year old post asking how to report problems)

Then on 3/31/25 (end of 2025 Q1,) we get a still flawed buggy app lacking a lot of the same features and usability of the old one. I’ve said it before in another thread, but I don’t blame the developers because I think they were aware that this app was not ready. Those at the top forced/rushed this release. I don’t think any of us can fault them for wanting to simplify and consolidate their codebase to make things easier, but that should not come at the cost of losing features and quality. No one wants a shiny new car that is limited to 50 mph and only turns left.

So 283 posts ago we got this response: New Experience Public Release Feedback - #151 by elan

Until this app was released I had a largely positive experience and view of Plex as a company, and the announcements of removing watch together, raising prices, and making remote streaming paywalled didn’t bug/had no real effect on me. Now I am angered and worked up every time I try to use the app because it is a roll of the dice if it may work and how many times I will have to intervene to try and watch a show.

It was a great 18 months Plex, thanks for souring my view on you.

Thank for the quick reply.

While it looks like my issue with casting was possibly related private dns and vendor change as you mentioned. I also discovered I am unable to cast to speaker only devices.

My use case involves casting children’s shows as audiobooks to Google Mini speakers. I’m assuming that removing the music features might have also removed the feature that allows casting to devices with no display enabled.

Could you please confirm this?

on iOS / ipad. I don’t have a mac. This seems very complicated and beyond my abilities. I was hoping to be able to download an older version from the app store or something. They should’ve made this new app a separate new app so it didn’t f up everyone’s experience.

the one for windows isnt complicated just follow the instructions and the picture guides and it takes about 5mins, just remember to delete plex from your ipad first otherwise it wont work. and the good thing about it is once you have done it, the next time is very quick will only take like a minute

Why not releasing the source code of the old app?
I think the community could make the best Plex app

Where have playlists gone?

You can’t view playlist
You can’t add to playlist
You can’t remove from playlist

Not liking this app at all!

I used playlists for different servers.

Now it seems it just wants you to add things to the same watchlist instead of using playlists?

Don’t like this at all.
Won’t be using the app due to this.

SAME!

If I can’t use playlists, I can’t use this app.

I have different servers for multiple reasons and this removal of playlists is awful.

Is that IPA not tied to your Apple ID?

You should definitely be able to view and start playback on video Playlists. Playlists is no longer a server source (like a library) to be favorited (pinned). Playlists exist in the library that they were created in. The rest of the functionality around playlists (add to, remove from, delete entirely, order, download) is indeed missing for now.

I am getting this error with a number of my videos on my plex server that I could watch before the update no problem. I was forced to update to this version (1.41.5) on the server to allow android devices to watch and now I can barely watch anything. Any ideas?

mediacodecvideorenderer error index=0 format=format(0, null, null, video/hevc, hebc,-1, null, [1920,1080, 23.976025, null], [-1, -1]) format_supported=YES

The app also runs horrendously slowly and is very unresponsive. The previous version worked great.
