@bazgow Could please download the client logs (Settings > About > Download Logs) and grab your PMS logs after reproducing your issue and share both with me?
It might be good to break out your issue into it’s own thread.
Playlists and Collection do not have backgrounds normally (they aren’t automatically downloaded into the metadata as they are for movies and TV shows), yet the new app expects them to be available to display on the Playlists and Collection views. So, most of the time you just get a large void of screen space above the Playlist or Collection name.
The old app would default to the posters.
I’m using the “Final” preview release on Android. If this has been addressed, please ignore.
I would, but now i cant even load int my plex server using a web browser. Sigh.
On my client there is a download logs setting. Where do you want me to send them?

can you please go a little bit more into details why this was done. I have very large libraries and created playlist to have quick access to certain often used movies.
Without the ability of a “playlists only” view, playlists become almost meaningless in my use case.
Can you easily filter for playlists?

Price increases and remote streaming and even removal of features like watch together or removing Music and photos from the main app under the pretense of building better dedicated apps, Would not be an issue for me, I was Happy to buy a lifetime pass before The pricing increase and continue using Plex, Inviting more of my friends and family who would have most likely used Plex ad streaming services anyway out of curiosity or ignorance. This rollout and response Is a crystal clear message they they have a plan and do not care about user feedback. So now instead of Gaining multiple users and 120 bucks, They get bad mouthed and friends get recommended alternatives like Jellyfin. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a company destroy their reputation So completely in weeks, but from what I’ve told they’ve done this before and will just bury their heads in the sand until it’s over and they can go public or whatever. They have until April 28 To come up with an apology explanation and solution to this mess or I’ll sadly say goodbye to the best PMS solution ever made
Yeah this really isn’t it. You removed my easy access to playlists, I have to go through the new convoluted menu. The only way I use plex nowadays is through playlists so I can watch my media in a specific order. You removed any customization at all from the home screen. You removed theme music(???)
Somebody just needs to sort out creating smart playlists for Jellyfin and I’m gone, and I’ll stop paying. Maybe I’ll tackle it and be done with this
Plex has taken too many bad decisions without giving the alternative to go back. Screw this.
Why not make the new awesome app before replacing the old fully functional one?
Same here with having to use the browser. Latest version of app, latest version of iPadOS. App crashes as soon as it launches. Completely useless at the moment. Left a 1 star review with my bug report on the App Store and will revise it when/if it gets fixed.

Firstly, I want to express my gratitude and admiration for all that you do. Plex isn’t just a fantastic app, it’s also an amazing community, and that’s something truly special. There not many other communities that allow it’s users bond over such a unique and shared experience. Your continuous efforts to innovate, expand, and provide exceptional experiences for your users are genuinely great to see, and I applaud you for it and not staying stagnant.
That said, I wanted to share some feedback regarding the new preview app. While it shows great potential and demonstrates exciting developments, it unfortunately misses several features that many of us have come to know and love. Change is always challenging, and I appreciate the effort that goes into evolving the platform. However, given the number of features that are currently absent in the preview app, I humbly ask the team to consider making the new app a standalone product.
Alternatively, if the current app is destined for end-of-life (EOL) status, I urge you to ensure that users like myself—who rely on the features in the older version—can still access and use it. This way, we can continue to enjoy what we need from the classic app while also exploring and benefiting from the innovative features of the preview app as it develops further.
Thank you for your hard work and for considering this feedback. I know I speak for many when I say that we appreciate all that you do for the Plex community!

Downloads are a huge part of Plex for me because I have a long commute with spotty internet. I used to download media without a problem. In the new app, every time I try to download a movie I get a “Decision Error”. It says “Unable to determine whether this item needs to be transcoded before downloading.”
I can either remove the download or re-add to the queue… which immediately gives the same error. It does not, notably, tell me how to help it make this ‘decision’ so I have no idea how to even try to fix it.
I’ve made no other changes except updating the Plex iOS app. Very frustrating.
You guys having problems getting to the title page of some movies/shows? Some of mine won’t load at all.
Guessing this has been covered, but want to chime in myself.. this latest android release did a few things..
1)i only use plex for my personal media, bring back the ability to remove trailers and other streaming things from my home screen.
2) bring back cast/crew info to episode screen. Why did you even remove that?

Currently, Playlists are not being treated like a server source (like a library) to be favorited (pinned).
We are aware of the frustration of not having a more global Playlists source causes. This was planned as a post release follow up. Again, sorry for the confusion and frustration but like other missing features, time and prioritization pushed this one out. I do not have an ETA for when this will be implemented but I have added your comments and others to bump the internal issue tracking it.
@ChristianKent Do you know if any of these titles are tagged as being in Collections? There was a PMS change that hit the current Beta to improve performance in these cases.
@crowy Thanks for the detailed feedback! We’re aware of the Auto login issue and are working on it. Same for performance improvements. I’m not sure about allowing for customization of the bottom nav (Live TV reference) but we do have plans to address the currently static Live TV button (even when the source was disabled). The static Live TV button was a temporary band-aid for OTA/DVR users.
@tattooed_pariah If you would like to have those items removed from your Home screen you’ll need to disable the Discover source via https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources. As for the cast/crew, those should definitely be there. There is a currently an issue where Crew members are not appearing when the Discover is disabled. Sorry I know I’ve addressed one issue that leads to another
. But if you’re not seeing any Cast or Crew, could you please share a screenshot as an example? Maybe a comparison screenshot of it working on say Web?
I can’t make these two rows go away and i don’t want them there. They weren’t there prior to the update.
There is nothing below what you see here.. i used to see cast/crew, recommended related shows in my library and recommended related in general. Now, nothing.
