have you seen ANY evidence that plex cares? I’m quickly losing all faith in this company. I’m still holding off plex pass lifetime before the price increase because I’m afraid it’s not worth it as I will have to abandon this company and software. It’s going downhill in a trump like fashion.

Then STOP!!! This whole new plex experience is quite bad. Can we get some communication that acknowledges how bad this is going? Or do you not care? I’m not trying to be anything but honest. I’m DEEPLY concerned here

can you please have your company acknowledge how bad this “new experience” is and how your customer base is very disappointed? people are losing faith at an astronomical rate. I want to buy plex pass lifetime and continue to have faith in your product. I LOVE plex, but your company and product is scaring me and I’m holding back on that purchase. I turned off server updates out of fear, haven’t done that in years. Please. I am not being aggressive, mean or trolling. I am just genuinely concerned.

Also, am I alone in these feelings? Please let me know people.

after performing the latest plex android app update (Samsung S21) , suddenly external subtitles are no longer loaded while casting [i have tested multiple movies files and the issue remains the same]

for a test i had another phone still with the old plex version [10.26.0.2578] and it can load the same external subtitle(s) without any issue.

a new version has been pushed to google play store v2025.12.0 , and the issue remains the same [April 10th]

any idea about this issue? and how can it be fixed?

More of a feedback issue with UI design for mobile phone use. Swiping left to right for seasons and episode is quite tedious for shows with lots of seasons and lots of episode. As on mobile it only slows 2/3 options to be viewed at one moment. This function would be fine on IPads but for mobile it is an ineffective use of realestate.

My only advice is allow them as a scroll down option for mobile phone. Other than that I am happy with how most things have worked so far.

Any feedback on this? I don’t really care about the new design it looks fine but this is the one thing that is making the app unusable for me. This error occurred a couple months ago on old experience and was patched, now it’s happening again and I assume it should be easiest thing to resolve.

I have thought about this for over a year now. I basically stopped interacting here and I made a huge write-up (https://forums.plex.tv/t/whats-going-on-with-plexs-professionalism-lately) about how Plex professionalism seems to have plummeted after the layoffs over a year back. @drzoidberg33 actually answered but said he would speak more in detail at a later date. I then pushed about that and he simply ignored it :slight_smile:

I have no issues per se with the direction Plex is taking but there definitely seems to be some disarray inside the company, leading to weird issues and mistakes cropping up and it’s very sad to see.

Edit: Some comments here and there confirms some alarming things. An employee called the team working on the server being only “1 and a half” people. He meant he was the half and and the new guy is the only real developer. Then later the new guy says people should buy more Plex passes so he could get some help with the transcoder :sweat_smile: I brought this up in the fireside chat to @McWanke which called this situation “healthy”. Okay.

choppy playback for those 4k high bitrate movie (from about 20 Mbps and getting worse if higher bitrate involved) after upgrade to the new version.

APKMirror has the older version [10.26.0.2578] Here. You need their installer from the Google play, to be able to install it. Once you do that it will stay on that version until you change it. I have not recieved the update on my android phones yet, but I have downloaded the apk’s from APKMirror so I’m ready if they do try to make me use the new one.

Plex team please for the love of all that is holy roll back this app to the previous version and make a separate new app for people to test. This is unusable. I haven’t been able to watch anything on Plex since my ipad automatically installed this update. I just can’t. This app is not ready to use. Please undo these changes.

Your not the only one, many of us long term contributors on this forum have stopped.

I’ve had my previous forum account deleted and now I’m really only lurking to see what plex do over the next while with their client apps and the server side nfo metadata support. I guess I’m hoping something might get better for us local media enthusiast.

I’m already running emby side-by-side with plex and can switch over immediately if I need to.

This new release breaks connecting to plex media server over LTE with a VPN, which did work on the previous client.

It appears that this new client thinks that it should only be able to connect to plex media server over wifi (when connected over LTE + VPN (WireGuard) the client displays “offline mode” with a crossed out wifi symbol).

There’s no reason to send folks to a 3rd party for the Android Plex app’s APKs. They are available from the forum’s Android announcement thread (for the legacy releases):

The new app is a total disaster. Confusing navigation. Features removed for no reason, like the ability to shuffle a library. Unwanted features that can’t be turned off. Just plain bad UI decisions all over the place. Too many to list, and what’s the point. I have no confidence that the team that made this mess has the capability to fix it.

Cancelled my PlexPass subscription. Looking for an alternative.

Used Plex on Samsung dex today. It does not work as intended in multiple ways.

  1. No setting I am aware of to change from letterbox to zoom, etc. screen is not rendering in correct resolution or size.
  2. Keyboard functionality is gone. Space bar on keyboard used to pause. Now it doesn’t work and messes things up.
  3. Error when you leave Plex and come back. Timeout error.
  4. Controls feel wrong, unresponsive. Multiple settings that are necessary are missing.

I use ples on Samsung dex everyday while I work. Please add these issues to the list to fix.

Is this HEVC 10 bit media? A team member reported this internally and a fix is being pushed out soon.

Is this DV profile 5 media in an MKV? If so a fix for that was merged this week.

can safely say the latest PMS version and latest ios app do not resolve the DV issue.

"file is unplayable. DoVi (profile 5) color space is not supported.

Video - 4k DoVi (HEVC Main 10)
Audio - EAC3 5.1
Container - MKV

Apologies, that fix was merged into the project this week and will be pushed out in an upcoming release
