New Experience Public Release Feedback

Apparently, after rolling back, the decision makers have not bothered to listen to their user base. I use plex because it is a single place for all of my media. So I’m trying to figure out how using one app for video media and another for audio makes any sense. At all. But apparently, that’s what the powers that be want. So I guess I’m stuck looking for another solution because this one blows.

Spinning wheel and not being able to see watch button on items in collections

Is this a known bug?

There was a server update to resolve performance issues with items in collections - might be worth checking as it was just released last week.

There is no transcoding settings anymore while chromecasting. Running Android version.

Hello.
Today, my Chromebook updated to the new version of the app. Ignoring all the other downgrades this app is, I can’t even play any content on my Duet 5.

I keep getting “Unable to determine HEVC profile” for each thing I try to play. Can’t even force a transcode since the settings are crippled compared to the legacy app.
Disabling Direct Play or Stream does nothing.

Worst app rollout I have ever seen.

Anyone know, if I update the server will it force me to also use the new experience app?

New iOS interface is utterly unusable.

How is my own server libraries not the default??
Logged into my account, the default favorite libraries are that of a friend’s server.
Unfavoriting his and adding my own servers libraries to favorites doesn’t stay when the app is closed and reopened.

Tried signing off, restarting device and restarting server changed nothing. My default home page on any iOS device is content from a friend’s server. Both iphone and ipad have this issue.

Not to mention that casting gives me absolutely no playback settings. I can’t even choose subtitles when casting.

At this point, I can’t even use the app and am forced to use the web client instead for simple core functionality.

iOS 18.4
App version 2025.12.0 on both iphone and ipad.
Server version 1.41.6.9685

Its not possible to skip forward when landscape lock is off. The button instead brings up the playback options menu (the three dot option in landscape mode). It works in my android tablet but not in android or ios mobile phones.

Skipping forward or backward when playing sometimes pause the playback, but only sometimes…

Version 2025.12.0. On iPad 10th gen. Guide for live tv does not display past a few hours. Just shows channel name only. Will not play any recorded tv shows, just freezes up. Will not play any live tv channel at all just freezes. This new app is not working. You said you were going to make this the best app, but it is a disaster even after a couple weeks now. How much can we endure? I guess you are forcing a long time plex pass member to seriously think about installing jellyfin.

You can still use the old client.

Ugh agree. Traveling tomorrow and updated the app. Biggest mistake I could have made.

Any ideas on when a new patch might be coming? The app in its current state is unusable for me on an iPad Pro, with all video files stuttering. If it isn’t fixed soon I might have to jump to another service like Plex that has an app that actually works.

I am seeing this as well in version 2025.12 on iOS 18.4 It seems to only hit videos encoded as 4K HDR10 (HEVC Main 10)

Hey Plex team! I’m a product guy so I won’t do a laundry list. I’ll just ask a product guy question:

I don’t use Discovered, LiveTV (not even setup) or On Demand. At all. Zéro.

Like many, using plex on a daily basis means going to my libraries. Being able to switch from movies to tv and others quickly is a core action. One I do at each session. This new UI makes it tedious and slow because those libraries are deprioritized heavily

Does this new ui reflect the frequency and weight of my usage habits? The answer is no.

My question is: does it reflect the habits of 80% of your users ?

If so, I probably am not in the target audience anymore. That’s fine.

If not, maybe you’re skating to where the puck is and evolving the value prop for a new audience you want long term and aren’t trying to cater to users with media libraries anymore ?

The audience I represent should get clarity on wether we should invest more in this app or not though. Acknowledge the divide and it’s fine. Better than not telling the direction you’re going to your long time early adopters.

Great thank you. Looking forward to it as at the moment it’s hard to watch any of my content.

Turn them off in the server settings and the buttons will disappear (with the exception of LiveTV but that has been stated to be changed in a future release).

It’s two presses. Is that tedious and slow these days?
