They want you to use PlexAmp
I have a Server with a Plex Pass, and people I share with, on the OLD android app, suddenly all have the 1 minute restriction applied, even though they paid for the app. And this new app shouldn’t have this in the first place so can we just remove this all together for the old app as well?
You cant use plexamp to view videos
Putting my tin foil hat on, I’d suspect we never will be able to view videos in plexamp. Folks might then be able to place any video within a music library and watch it making their Remote Watch Pass subscription irrelevant.
Their silence on the countless questions regarding videos within a music library says its all, its being removed. Its just yet another reason (in a every growing list of reasons) to not upgrade to their clients.
I also downgraded iOS app to old version.
This new Plex Experience needs lots of work to be stable release.
My current biggest issues are:
- Cannot browse Movies library anymore (only through category filtering or direct search work)
- SRT and PGS subtitles does not work like in the old app. SRT regression might be that new app is not so compliant with different kind of file encodings, but hey it’s regression anyways. Also some PGS subtitles has timing issues which does not appear in old version of the application.
- Live TV seems to be really unstable. Mostly it does not just open and gives you Uh oh error.
- Application has localization only for 7 languages. I can see that Transifex has new section for React Native Client and I guess new localizations are needed for the new app. I’m a bit confused why old mobile app localizations was not used.

It’s at least heartening to see how many people Understand that what Plex has done in the last month is completely unacceptable. I genuinely hope Plex Executives lose their jobs over this. All my friends and family have now switched over to my Jellyfin server. Never seen a company give such a massive middle finger to their user base in my life.

Ditto… Only the shows that were set prior to this release will download shows. Can’t download newer shows that were added. Confused on why this was not tested prior to deployment!!!
I have the problem that 90% of all files are no longer played on the new mobile apps.
No matter whether x264 1080p, x265 1080p or 2160p, error messages for rendering appear everywhere, even with the sound everything possible tried from EAC3, TRUHD, DTS etc. it simply doesn’t work at all, but at the end it always says that it is compatible. Nevertheless, nothing can be played.
Tried various Android phones from Samsung, Xiaomi, Fairphone or Google Pixel. From flagship models to cheap devices, no difference. If I then allow a download, all devices can play the files, but streaming is not possible. Various iPhones also have the same problem, with the usual CPU message appearing. Settings are set to direct play and direct streaming and maximum but it doesn’t work, with download and then play no problem again.
All settings checked and set as before. That can’t be the problem.
Latest server version installed and latest app version too.
What else can you try?
I do not see these missing features mentioned in any coming soon notes (and are not in the recent beta either).
Are any of these coming?
- Downloads - download x unwatched episodes
- Downloads - if I click something downloaded on the Home Screen play the downloaded version
- Downloads - grouping the stuff downloaded like a library like the old version did with its own continue watching, recently released, recently added, library view instead of the current unsorted list of episodes downloaded with no grouping
Just so you’re aware, the developers are most likely being forced by executives to release these new applications even though they aren’t completed. Please don’t attack people on forums no matter what your opinion of their services are. It’s just rude and uncalled for.
Agree with that. IIRC when they announced the new remote play pass and remote play being a plex pass only feature and those other changes to who can download/stream remotely that that would take effect end of this month. My guess is that the enforcement of that is only in this new version so they had to get this out before that took effect. ready or not.
If that guess is correct makes me wonder if anybody still on the old app will have issues come April 29th. Hopefully since I have plex pass lifetime I’ll be okay.
And just went back and found the announcement of remote play being plex pass exclusive and here is the line in question " This change will apply to the future release of our new Plex experience for mobile and other platforms."
Anyone know how to download an entire show? Seems like the new experience only has the download on individual media items and not at a season or show level?
The current release version does not have that feature. The one in beta does but be aware it will download the entire season. No option yet for download x or download x unwatched. It is literally just a bulk queue of all episodes in the season.
any update for subtitles issue on Chromecast ?
Is a fix coming that lets me skip forward in portrait mode? It still just brings up the playing menu instead.
If you’re referring to the 30sec skip button, it’s on their radar. Hopefully next release.
Updated to Plex iOS 2025.14.0 and the libraries on home page still stuck on friends remote libraries instead of my own personal server.
Unfavoriting their libraries and favoriting my own doesn’t stick when the app is reloaded.
Please fix this ASAP, I can’t use the mobile app to view my own content without jumping through hurdles just to view my own libraries on my own server.
Often, on my iPhone, playback will suddenly stop, then restart from beginning of file. Is this the best place to report bugs?
Fixed in 2025.14.0 (1037) hvec decoding fixed… thank goodness my server was going off like a jet engine. Now to tell people to bloody update. Going to be hard to enforce that. 
Might disable transcoding for awhile. Or kick them and leave an annoyed message.
